    help novice with pregnancy

Get the vet to palpate/scan her (sedate her first). Then you will know for sure and can plan accordingly. Good luck.

    Foaling and Turnout

Sorry but just because the yard suits the mare now doesn't mean it will when she's heavily pregnant/foaling down/with foal at foot. There are many many yards which will take the mare (usually around 30 days before foaling to allow time to develop the right antibodies to the new environment), and...

    Foaling and Turnout

I wouldn't keep a foal on a yard where there are no others - they need buddies the same age to play with (which also gives the mare a bit of a break). Where in the country are you as I'm sure people could recommend good studs which could accommodate your mare and foal.

PHOTO... Born dun -- can the foal change colour?

Looking at the pictures of the foal I am not convinced she is a buckskin (and she's certainly not dun if neither of her parents carry the dun gene). The only way to know for sure if she has inherited the cream gene from her sire is to send a hair sample off for DNA testing - it's cheap and easy...

Top class modern refined dressage stallions?

Have you got any pics of the mare and a link to her pedigree? Really hard to suggest anything without seeing those. What would be the three things you would like to improve most? And has she competed? Any strengths/weaknesses under saddle or temperament wise?

advice for breeding off my mare please

Sorry but from these pictures I would definitely echo others and do not think she has good enough conformation to breed from. She looks downhill, with a low set neck, pronounced goose rump and very weak back and loins, with no natural topline. If you feel the pictures have not done her...

Is my boy a Dutch warmblood?

    Wow, he looks absolutely hideous!

    Opinions please

Looks like he was a smart youngster from the pics on their site but the videos do him no favours at all and he has not been produced well under saddle. Is he licensed?

    Verbindend as first bit?

My horse is in a verbindend - I backed her in it and she's still in it now two years later as a rising 6yo. She likes it and I would have no problem with starting another in one.

    Buying unbroken- price?

Start by looking at the stud fee of the sire and the performance of the dam, then work out how much it has cost the breeder to get the horse to that age and you're in the ballpark of what I'd expect to pay (provided you count the poor old breeder's time as £0, which is usually the case). Then if...

    Cooler rugs/Fleeces

No they don't! I think fleeces are uselss rugs — most of them are not even made from breathable fleece, just the cheapest fleece going, plus they get hairs and bedding stuck in them and can become dreadfully itchy. For a sweaty horse, go for a proper wicking thermocell cooler like a thermatex —...

    Guessing colour of foal ??

Not really — grey is not a colour in its self, it is a modifier that means the colour fades from the coat, which is why foals are not born grey. Grey is also dominant, so a horse carrying just one copy of the grey gene will always turn grey, but will only have a 50% chance of passing that...
