I have one of these. I'm really pleased with it. It doesn’t move or slip or flap- I go out in all weather and it’s pretty exposed where I live. I don’t do much schooling but have lunged in it. I don’t know how well it will wash because I haven’t washed it or had it washed yet...
I do mine by hand with a rake, I really need to sort something else out! It’s not ideal but it works short term for a school in light use, I work horses in the school 4 x a week and spend an hour a week raking it!
We have a small patch of Rye at the bottom of one field. I have cut the seed heads/stems off and bagged them up.
The rest of the grazing is mostly fog, bent, fescue, timothy...... and it seems to be unaffected.
Maybe you haven’t had long enough to enjoy the things you have put in place.
A few years ago my OH and I moved - we fenced, pulled many tonne bags full of rag, spent the same as you building a diy arena, refurbished old stables ...... while living in a run down house, working a long working...

Yes it’s normal. I met two once, they were opposite each other both on the field sides either sides of a lane - Fortunately my horse is established, brave and not fazed by much, but it’s always unpleasant with shards of hedge flying about. Fortunately I buy my hay from one of the guys cutting...
