Well I break in horses and had lots of ponies booked in this year for backing/breaking, and I am finding pregnancy frustrating. I am still managing to keep 3 horses going at the moment, but when I was 12/14 weeks (over xmas and newyear) I didn't want to ride, I felt really bloated and no energy...
I am still getting away with my normal jods with a hair bobble tied round the clip at the top lol! I am 21 weeks. I also bought a couple of cheap jods in a size bigger, it does mean they are baggy round the legs as I have slim legs but they do. I am still competing so I bought bigger sized...
I tried to start a thread like this on a non horsey forum and it ended very badly, I think i am sticking to horsey forums from now on. I am 16 weeks at the moment and still happy to ride and feel better now than I did at the start of the pregnancy. I had started backing two young horses and...
Thanks guys :) I knew about the sheep, and we have sheep aswell so OH and I have come up with a plan so I have no contact with sheepy things (thankfully they are kept away from the yard)
I thought I would be fine, and if I took to correct precautions. There are only 2 mares that we haven't...
I was looking for advice from breeders, vets etc any really that has experience. I'm pregnant with my first baby and will have (hopefully) six foals due, I have 1 in April, 4 in May and one is due the same day as me end of June. I will be 7 months pregnant at the time the first is due. I just...
He is stunning colt.... well done you. Mum looks to be a lovely stamp of a mare too, but he is a good strong colt :)
My god woman you are brave..... wearing no shoes while bathing :o My toes were curling just looking at the picture lol!!!
I actually used a pendulum and the results were:
1st Mare filly = Filly (and I thought it would be a colt!)
2nd Mare Colt = Colt
3rd Mare Colt = Colt
4th Mare Colt = Filly (I always thought it would be a filly, strange)
5th Mare Filly = Filly
:) :)
You would be correct, and also we have to remember that our horses arent in the wild, and I have seen it many time where turning out a mare with a gelding after covering etc has caused the mare to come back into season therefore loosing the foal. So if you are serious about getting your mare in...
Thats interesting, I have had a couple of my mares jabbed to bring them on and neither of them scanned and they took both times. One covered in hand the other ran with the stallion. I knew that there was always an opition to scan them but the vet had always said just to jab and tease with our...
Good Luck!!!
My maiden mare waxed up for 4 days and ran milk for 2 days but then she went 388 days !!!! Another Maiden mare I had last year showed no signs and just popped one out.... That was a shock, she did it again to me this year lol!
Have fun... hope everything goes OK!
Just came on for an update.... I am so sorry to hear you lost the colt :( Thinking of you!! Its so hard loosing a foal, but you tried your best for him and thats what counts, some things just arent meant to be. Hope the Filly is thriving and that the mare is OK too!!
Oh my goddness, what a shock for you!! Glad that they are both living and mummy is doing well. I really hope the weakest foal will be OK! It will be alot of work for you, but well worth it if they both turn out ok :)
Thinking of you and hope the "Family" keep fighting!! xx
Well so far out of 4 foals its been right 3 times, I got a super suprise when the foal we had on Monday morning turned out to be a filly instead of a colt! So Have got one left to see if it works or not ;)
