    Part share

Has anyone any experience of owning a part share in a show pony? Did you have a contract in place stating who was responsible for what?

    Ear muffs

Why do horses wear ear muffs in dressage competitions? Watching the dressage from Olympia last night the person I was with commented, "That horse must have sticks down it's ears!" It was wearing ear muffs and seemed totally unable to move it's ears at all, they appeared stuck forward which I...

    Unusual canter gait question

Yes, now I've seen the you tube video, it must be a lateral canter. I would like to know what causes this movement, surely it isn't correct for the show ring

    Unusual canter gait question

Yes, that's it, except the horses I've seen in the show ring that moved like this did it more easily, with good transitions from trot to canter, as though they were used to this canter.

    Unusual canter gait question

Thank you for your reply, but these horses were definitely not disunited, they are leading with the correct leg front and back, but inside fore and hind legs appear to be moving in parallel, exactly at the same time as each other, hitting the ground at the same time, instead of the hind leg...

    Unusual canter gait question

I have noticed a couple of horses at shows recently that seem to move both inside legs together in canter. It looks really odd and I wonder what causes it, it is obviously not a correct way of going. One of these horses was a well schooled warmblood/sports horse type, the other a more novice...

    Recommendations for small dog harness

I have a small Jack Russell terrier, weighing 5.5kg. I can't take her out on the lead with a collar, because she does a little wiggle and slips out of the collar even though I tighten it a hole before we go out. I have also tried a harness that was fitted at pets at home. She steps backwards...

Gosh, I've been showing for 50 years and have never come across a no photos policy.

Taking photos at horse shows query

I am absolutely certain it would annoy the official photographer and rightly so. I think the issue here was more that the photographer was using a high class camera to take photos of her family and friends. I just wondered what the rules were.

Taking photos at horse shows query

Does anyone know if it is okay to take photos of all the exhibits in a class for personal and private use? I am asking because I have seen a Facebook thread where someone had obviously become irate because a member of the public with a good camera was taking photos. I wondered if there are any...

    Young dog weeing problem

Thanks for your replies. It is "excited weeing." Even just scooping her up in the morning can make her leak :( On the plus side, she is the most adorable little dog though :) I hope she will grow out of it (the leaking, not being adorable, lol)

    Young dog weeing problem

I have had a year old JR terrier for a couple of months. She wasn't house trained when I got her, but is now pretty good with not too many accidents. The problem I am having is that when I get up in the morning, her bladder is full, and she leaks. She is not urinating on purpose, although she...

    Cushings in dogs

Thanks for your replies. It is definitely Cushings, I have just had the results of the blood test to determine that it is the pituitary type. He will start the pills on Monday, with blood tests every 10 days to get the dosage right then every 3 months. He has gone pot-bellied, lost his voracious...
