As per title really... And why?
I've got two horses, one would come under veteran cover. Not happy with current insurers due to poor customer service.
Many thanks
Hope all goes well for you and your horse this week, I'm sure the waiting and uncertainty is awful.
My mare broke a rib a couple of years ago, right on the girth line. We didn't know what it was at the time and vet treated as a hematoma to start with. Turns out the rib had many bone chips. She...
My Anglo Arab TB x gets it badly when there is a flush of grass (fairly bald paddocks). Vets said it was due to over grazing - basically being greedy. He has come in over the last few weeks with a fat face but not every day. The cob x mare doesn't seem to be effected. So I suppose it's either a...
My old gelding, who is an absolute sod to ride, loves kids and will behave impeccably for them under saddle. He likes attention -lots of it - and I think has learnt that kids give lots of fuss, carrots and he gets centre stage!
Mind you, he doesn't see many kids, so hasn't been over exposed.
Belated happy birthday Shavings.
I can't offer any advice, but sympathy as my mare has a significant tear in her abdominal muscle. She hadn't been right since Autumn and it's assumed she damaged the muscle, then made it worse after Christmas having a massive hooly in the field. Vet has...
Let me know if you find a solution! My JRT is fab...most of the time...but has selective hearing.
What makes me giggle that , on returning from a walk sooner than he agrees to, I've been caught out many a time, having turned for home, to find he has planted himself, some fields back and has no...
Anything for bicycles. Have a look at wiggle.com.
I've got some white lights that I attached to martingale/ bridle andd red to rear. Far better (and cheaper) than anything equestrian.
Also got some great reflectives from Halfords (car/bike store) -again half the price and far better quality.
I had a round wide cob with no withers and had a rolled tree Ideal saddle, really comfy for me too.
But I also found using a 5 point breast plate helped...gave me something to grab as she was quite sharp and spooky.
My 23 year old Welsh x Anglo Arab is doing more now than he has done in the last 10 years. He doesn't go in the school now apart from the odd lunge as he has arthritis in his joints, but hacks for miles. Last summer, he was ridden 4 to 5 times a week and was full of himself, he is a cheeky...
I too was some what nervous as when she is full of herself she is a real strong handful. I was also terrified of the injury still hurting her (torn abdominal muscle), so felt a bit like I was riding a glass horse.
My husband walked our old gelding in hand with us so she had company, can't say...
Well done you! Fantastic morning to be out.
I too had my first ride in 3 months as my lovely mare has been off with injury. We only did 20 mins, but she felt better than ever.
15'3, well was when younger. Absolute barsteward to ride, even now at 23 when he feels like a 'slinky' going down hill, with the added spook...and trip due to age adding a whole new terror to ridden exercise.
100% shoe, catch and load as this requires no effort on his part. Adores being...
Been watching out for mine. Last year they had two clutches and each time they hatched we had a stormy wet couple of days...so perhaps they might arrive this week!
Love watching them.
