Mine arrived today as well. I got the temp up to 37, but I wouldn’t call it warm…fine for just washing off on a hot day to take the edge off the cold, or maybe ok in the winter for tails etc, but I’d definitely want it warmer for a cold or mild day
Like people have said it really depends on what level you want to do. Affiliated it’s the Sports Horse GB and British Show Horse Association. Open workers and 1.15 for qualifiers & this can go up to 1.20 at RIHS and HOYS. Affiliated novice workers are 1m and restricted and amateur workers are 1.05
I got mine the other day and what a nightmare!!! I couldn’t buy cross county and normal show jumping tickets in the same ‘pack’, so I ended up making two ‘packs’ one with eventing cross country tickets in plus foot ball and rugby sevens and another pack with team show jumping and tennis &...
If you want to do Olympia then it’s the Senior Showing and Dressage not the VHS. You have to turn out to type, so the ones that won Olympia this year were and M&M and a traditional coloured which are showing au natural. If your horse is a hunter type etc then you would need to plait I’m afraid...
I would disagree & say that the absolute max you should be changing the rein is twice.
So, stand out for the judge so they can make a look around your horse/pony. Walk away in a straight line 8-10 strides then go into trot. Turn right and change the rein after the corner. Pop into canter &...
Forgot to add that some BSPS and NPS shows have training stakes classes which range from 50cms to 1m. They’re open to any type (so plaited or M&M) but can be good if the show doesn’t have the class you’re after.
There are now 4 sections. You’d be in the top one (exceeding 143cms). Novice height is Max 85cms, restricted max height is 95cms & open height is 1m. For RIHS and HOYS max height is 105cms. If you have a look at he BSPS or NPS website, they’ll have a list of show and rules.
Thanks for the replies!
It was a mixture of everything - some people in full competition gear, some in regular gear & some in competition breeches but regular tops!
Yes, that was the one I meant-sorry!!
Thanks for the advice, I’ll have a look at the photos & hopefully we’ll be going to the one at Bury Farm in April ??
Has anyone done Search for a Star before? I’m wanting to do the WH class, just wondering what to expect, how things are run etc, any hints or tips muchly appreciated!!!
Thanks!
Thanks for all of your replies-know all about the importance of drainage 😀-other half (non horsey) is putting up the money to build the arena but thinks sand/rubber will be fine, but I said I’d put up the money for the surface so we can get a ‘better’ one so hoping I’ll have enough...!!!
So before I start ringing up companies & start spluttering down the phone at them when they tell me the price of a surface...how much does one cost nowadays?
I don’t want a sand/rubber one, I’m thinking more down the ‘economical’ ones from Martin Collins/Andrews Bowen/Equestrian Surfaces...
