No - I moved to this yard because I wanted turnout for my horse. I don’t appreciate the YO’s lack of concern that one of her paying liveries has a stressed out horse yet she chooses to to ignore it because it makes her life easier.
I’m currently based in Somerset but the slight issue I have is that my current work contract is only until July and then there is the possibility I will have to move to be closer to wherever my next contract is, if I can’t find another 100% remote contract. I don’t want to have to move now to...
She is ridden daily and the hacking around us doesn’t allow for short hacks so we are out for a sufficient period of time each and every day. She thrives off her work so she is kept worked as that helps her brain.
I’m starting to look now for elsewhere but when you aren’t local to the area...
Sorry I should have said - there is another field next to my horse’s field which is empty but the YO won’t allowed another horse in there “in case we get another livery arrive”. YO hasn’t spoken to me since I brought up this issue at the weekend and just ignores me.
I have recently moved back to the UK from overseas and the first yard we were at for only 6 weeks because of a total lack of turnout (which was the complete opposite to what I had been told).
I moved my horse about 40 mins away to another yard which has turnout BUT now I have an issue where all...
Hi,
I’ve just relocated back to the UK with my mare and whilst she currently has somewhere to live, I need to move her as the yard isn’t suiting either of us. I am after somewhere (anyway as I remote work so relocating again isn’t an issue) which will allow her to have daily turnout all year...
I’m due to relocate and she was having a blood test done as part of the yard I’m going to requirements and the vet checked her over before bloods were taken. She hasn’t had any symptoms
my horse saw the vet today (this is a vet who has never seen my horse before and is newly qualified). The vet listened to my horse’s heart and said she has an irregular irregular heartbeat and further tests are needed to determine if it is AF. Now over the last year, my horse has had 4 teeth...
I feed MudGard by NAF - it isn't cheap but is very good. A supply of 1kg lasts about 6 weeks.
I also put vaseline on all four legs prior to my boy going out - this is more precaution then cure as we have very muddy fields at times plus the fields are clay based so it just sticks to his legs...
I feed my horse Newmarket Joint supplement which is pure glucosammine (sorry can't spell the word!) which is brilliant but it is expensive. A month's supply is £30 or 3 months supply is either £90 from your vet or £65 from Animeddirect. I get it from the latter and a 3 month supply at a time...
I clipped mine 2 years ago with a full clip (only half a head left on) and he lived out at night that winter. I just rugged him accordingly to the weather conditions and he was fine.
Mine is currently an incredibly hairy bear and, like yours, sweats up on a walking hack. I am hunter...
I love clipping just dislike the drive home feeling all itchy!
I'm looking forward to clipping my boy on Saturday and all that hair will finally be gone...
I second this and was going to suggest it before I found the comment! Also if possible and as silly as it sounds are you able to tack up another horse with their bridle whilst he is stood next to them? It could be another way to desensitive him to the bridle. Clearly in his mind bridle =...
Linlithgow gets my vote too for living but I have stuggled to find livery around the area - there is a lot of part/full livery but limited options for DIY which is what I was after but I guess it will depend on what livery you would want.
