Horse market has simply gone nuts.

I do think the market is going to bottom out soon, surely with the cost of living through the roof people genuinely soon will have to make decisions between the cost of fuel and heating and a horse. Especially people who scrabble through in order to have a horse!

Do vets consider a horse's mental health?

Yes mine certainly did, granted she ended up on box rest for an awfully long time (broke the wing off her pedal bone and ended up in a cast) but the vet was centred around what was best for her, after the box rest we got her doped up and out in a field for some time to just be a horse again. But...

    Best Hats

My friend had a horrific accident whilst hacking with me yesterday with which if she hadn't been wearing a hat she wouldn't be here today. Safe to say I checked how old mine was when i got back and mine is 7 years old so is probably time for replacement - i know i have had minor falls etc...

Cyclists on bridleways - do you come across them?

i have found the majority of cyclists very pleasant. People on bikes who have no idea how to ride let alone be around others are totally different though, we have loads that have bought electric bikes so come at you at speed, when its suggested that they could slow down to pass you, they often...

    Le Chameau/Aigle/Wide calves

I bought a pair of XL LC's as they are wider in the calf. The LC's they are so comfy, I bought mine from rideaway.

Equestrian shop - best for online and/or discounts?

You may find your local charities having online auctions etc, i know Happa and Hope Pastures do, you can pick up some fab things. Recently i have been using GS Equestrian and rideway, both have discount codes for newbies!

Ongoing subtle lameness, suggestions for next steps welcomed!

I notice you are in the North West, i wondered if you had been to see Peter at Hirds? It may be worth getting a second opinion/ work up from a new set of eyes. You absolutely are doing the right thing for her, sending lots of hugs, these horses are the worst emotional roller coasters!

    Actual Waterproof Coats

Ugh, My lovely Musto training jacket, has finally given up on me, the zip has gone, as has the sleeves and the hood. So I thought I would just replace it, however it looks like Musto aren't doing the equestrian range any more! *Sobs* So suggestions for a quality waterproof riding jacket, ideally...

    Colic, beware!

So glad you saw the signs, mine gets colicky when the grass is super stressed, I do normally give her some Coligone, which I find works really well, however if she still looks odd the vet is out and an shot of buscopan and bute tends to work well. I think coligone is aniseed

    Working from home with horses

I work from home normally. I get up at 5.20, out on the horses by 6:30 and at my desk for 8:30, have a hour lunch if needed and finish at 5pm. Winter I work from 7:30 and then have a 2 hour lunch to ride in :) Get washed and dressed into your jods and you are ready to go!

What tried and trusted things do you always go back to?

Oh I wish you could get Green dermobian still, it was the best for anything, I kept my tube for absolute emergencies but it ran out a couple of years back. Cornocesine - for hooves and my nails! Canter Mane and Tail, everything else is just not as good! Old fashioned rubber over reach boots...
