    3 year old final height

My ID x Dutch is 9 and has only just stopped growing at a staggering 17.1hh with a chest you could fit a tank between! Feed them up and let them grow, they'll thank you in their older age when they have fewer joint/limb issues etc.

Whats the most important aspect of a livery yard?

Wow guys thanks so much for all the feedback! You've confirmed my suspicions of what would be most important to owners and am feeling hopeful that my new set-up will accommodate happy horses!!

Whats the most important aspect of a livery yard?

I have just taken on a new equestrian establishment and will be running it as a livery yard. Would love to get some feedback off those who have/have had their horses in livery as to what matters/mattered most to you? Obviously I know facilities etc are important but when it comes down to...

Spur of the moment trip to Ireland to see a horse...am I mad?!

Not mad at all!! If you can afford it...do it!! You'll probably end up being approached by someone wanting to show you horses anyway! We've just had 2 bought over from Ireland (following a previous 2 3 seasons ago) from the same guy and they are all fantastic! Do exactly what they say on the...

    Hip injury.......unresolved!!

Thank you so much for your comment!! It is so frustrating as I've been so patient and followed my vets advice but it's 6 months on now and I'd like to of seen more of an improvement. I will definitely be considering nerve blocking etc following what the TI shows up! I've added some videos that I...

    Hip injury.......unresolved!!

Thank you both for your comments!! Sacroiliac issues have all been ruled out after a Mctimoney trained chiropractor, a vet who is also a trained chiropractor, this lady of masters and method and 2 different vets thoroughly examined the area and concluded they got no reaction from there. My...

    Hip injury.......unresolved!!

My mare injured herself last October in the lunge pen whilst messing around! Sat on her the day after and she was completely lame behind, dropping her left hind. Through various vets and chiropractors she was given 3 weeks box rest on a high dose of but for 2 of them then trotted up as...

    Horse with Ulcers

My 18 year old ex-p2p horse has ulcers from his earlier days of racing! He's very grumpy to tack up, rug up etc and riding he can be naughty! He also windsucks which doesn't help his ulcers! I have his teeth done regularly and he his on ad-lib hay and haylage throughout the winter (literally as...

    Hindquarter lameness.....HELP!!

Back at the end of September my mare (who enjoys to colic) looked like she was on the verge so I buted her and put her in the lunge pen to have a fart and a buck (always gaseous colic). She absolutely turned herself inside out and when I sat on her the next day she was lame on her left...

    Feeling rather undermotivated- help!

School whilst you're out hacking!! I do this with the babies as they tend to be more forward going whilst out rather than stuck in a school (really good for getting their attention which can only help for future events). Where you have quieter (preferably straight) roads do your lateral work...

    A-symmetrical lameness

In response to getting second opinions I've had 2 chiropractors, 1 physio, 1 vet and the vet/chiropractor examine my mare and none of them ever mentioned anything about her sacroiliac problems except for the vet/chiropractor who advised me about her workload (we have talked about further...

    A-symmetrical lameness

I'm meaning 6/10s lame as if 9/10s would be practically sound. The reason for the unevenness is that her right tuber sacrale (PSIS) locks up and her left tuber sacrale locks down, hence why there is the unlevelness to her left-side. I would not be riding my horse if I wasn't 100% happy with the...

    A-symmetrical lameness

I have a big 17hh+ mare who went lame/unlevel behind about a month ago after turning herself inside out in the lunge pen. After having her back done by a chiropractor and seen by the vet I was advised to have another vet who is also a chiropractor, accupuncturist, owns and runs a rehab centre...
