Week back end, sway back and swan neck... Fresians are so overbred at the moment and are essentially barge horses. The Dutch laugh at the brits for the amount they pay for them. They are so overbred that half the time they can't give birth properly, the Fresian breeder down the road was really...
I've have yelled and given him a good smack. Its different if they don't know any better but once they've learnt then there is no excuse. My girl used to be really bad with her back feet, but once she'd learnt how to pick them up she was told off if she tried to take the piss.
I heard that excessive licking (not necessarily paws but licking in general) was often a sign of stress. Is there anything that's happened lately that could be stressing her out maybe?
Ragwort is actually more poisonous when dried (as opposed to a lot of other poisonous plants) and also more palatable, so if I found any in hay I'd burn the lot. We were always taught that if we found any ragwort living or dead it was to be burnt as soon as possible.
Thanks for all the replies (work got crazy and I didn't get a chance to check them till today). This has made me feel much better. As PS said she's already so much better than when i first got her, I used to have to the taking the bridle to pieces thing so only having to undo a cheekpiece is...
My mare is funny about getting her bridle on. I think she's had some issues in the past and having the bridle put on the traditional way is next to impossible with her (if you are very tall its just about doable but the stress just isn't worth it). Basically I undo a cheek piece put the bridle...
Horses do react differently. My girl is a soppy cuddle bear with me but not with other people - she will quite happily lean her head on me and get cuddles all day long but is funny with other people even touching her head. Is quite wary till she gets to know them (but can be bribed with...
Jilly Cooper - Riders and Polo - I can't choose one as a favourite. I think I need a new copy of Riders... the last 4 pages had to be celotaped back in!!

Totally agree with you. It does wind me up to see very heavy people on babies. I realise that sometimes there is no other option (thinking backing kiddies ponies) but when buying a horse if you want a youngster then I think you should get something designed to carry your weight easily.
I know...

I voted for sausages, I am not keen on rearers !
Is your friend still keen to have her?

Hehe, she'd make a good amount of sausages!!
Yeah, he's still really keen. Sent him a text this morning and he's giving me a call tonight to discuss it. As PS said, he's not...

Interesting that you are from Holland as my dutch bred imported mare has tendencies to be a numpty out hacking, her forte being bucking at the moment.
Generally she is fine so I have put it down to a combination of the spring grass ( not much of it though due to lack of rain at the...
