Mine does the same, more when the ground is very hard/frozen, and they get very sore/bloody when he's been tearing about.
I wrap his with vetwrap (adhesive) bandages :) love vetwrap as you can get all different colours!!
Thanks again everyone. I will give the dog rocks a try. I was worried the dogs would eat them but I've just looked on their website and it says you can also put them in a jug and top up the bowl using the jug - sounds easier and will allow me to clean the bowl more than once every 2 months! x
My two are left on their own for at least 8 hours per day and are fine (including relatively new rescue dog who was completely un housetrained when we got him - now clean all day! Thanks to Cayla for the crate advice )
They are big dogs, they get a 45 min off lead walk in the morning...
Sorry to jump on the back of this post, just wondering as well where people have got their ex-racers from? Do you approach trainers direct or go to the sales?

Before I forget, ths place in Wiltshire is ABSOLUTELY great, again, lots and lots of walks from doorstep, straight down into park which then leads onto a disused railway path which goes for miles and miles; Wiltshire downs for walking and about 10 mins away from Avebury; 20 mins from Bath; 30...
Stayed here with dog on the Suffolk/Norfolk border. Had an enclosed garden and lots and lots of dog friendly places near by, incl beaches, forest, woodland, parkland http://www.sykescottages.co.uk/cottage/Suffolk-Eye/The-Bothy-2582.html?mcomments=1#
Alternatively in Lake District either...
Hello everyone and happy new year.
Rupert (rescue dog) had signs of worms when we homed him a few weeks ago, skinny, food obsessed, thirsty, irregular stools, and 'sledging' on the carpet :mad:
Had wormer from vet when he was castrated, round about the first week in December...
No problem - my OH acquired her at 4 weeks old :eek: as one of the litter died and the mother abandoned the rest of the puppies :(
She seems none the worse for it - no issues with separation etc - the only strange thing that she does that I think is probably a result of being weaned too...
Couple more of meg just to show her ears in proportion to her body :D as well as her tarheels and pencil toes (just about)....
Note destroyed football in background, which lasted all of about 10 seconds before madam punctured it to death.
:D
