EVA Matting and Laminitis... any thoughts?!

Avenger - thank you so much for your information, its positive to know that other people out there are forced away from the 'non- conventional' route with positive results! I am sorry for the situation you are in, and yes, I have enough X-rays to wallpaper the downstairs of my house with...

EVA Matting and Laminitis... any thoughts?!

[ QUOTE ] HI I can't imagine that the mats would make any difference especially as it sounds like he has other bedding aswell. All I can think is that his 'issues' are getting worse and that his recouperation is going to take longer than it normally would. I have to say though, and I'm not...

EVA Matting and Laminitis... any thoughts?!

I just wondered if anyone else has experience with this, as any thoughts and ideas would be so helpful! My little Welsh X pony who is 14 years old has suffered from lamintis for years and years, for reasons other than food! I thought I was doing the right thing by installing thick EVA mats in...

    What colour tack...

... for a coloured mare?!! Not a lover of black tack (apart from dressage gear!) - dont ask me why, looks great on other people's horses, just never go for it myself! Not talking about showing tack here either... always liked brown tack BUT would you go for traditional dark brown leather, or...

Paddock hoovers vs. Paddock sweepers (vs. fork & wheelbarrow!) ???????

Oooh... interesting points! The grass sickness aspect sounds a bit awful , although - does this article mean you have to have HAD grass sickness on your land? Never had grass sickness on this land (its only been my horses and just sheep for years before that). Seems to indicate that it...

Paddock hoovers vs. Paddock sweepers (vs. fork & wheelbarrow!) ???????

Hi, I am off to look at a second hand paddock sweeper today , but have been thrown into some confusion as to how well they work! Does anyone have experience of them, or even paddock hoovers? I am worried that they might only work on very short grass? Does anyone know of any particular good...

foal nashing teeth at other horses?

[ QUOTE ] Mine used to do it when she was pinching food out of the old mare's bucket. The old mare was beside herself with rage, but wouldn't touch her. [/ QUOTE ] Thats SO naughty!!! But really quite clever! I have always known it to be called "tooth-clapping" and is totally submissive (if...

    Bridles / Showing

Hiya! You are right to keep it plain for hunter classes, coloured browbands go on riding horses and even more colourful ones on hacks! Same goes for pony classes!

    Very Hormonal Mare

My 4yo is similar . Fingers crossed she is now in foal (we await scans), am assured that 9 times out of 10 it will help to some extent... have already started to guess I might be the lucky 10th person, but we'll cross that bridge when we come to it!

    Information needed please

Just a thought, but who owns the colts? Could they not be seperated and the filly stay with the geldings if they are getting on well?! Save the geldings from being harrassed by the colts as well! Be nice for her to stay with some youngstock...

    Fitting a grazing muzzle?

From experience, fit it so the jaw strap is snug (the velcro does give if caught on something). The actual bucket part depends on how much space you have around the muzzle - my pony (who is like houdini!) has his on with no more than an inch to spare at the bottom, when he has his head up. If...
