    IJoy Ride?

I had a bad fall a month ago and have ruptured my Achilles’ tendon. It’s a bad tear so they are operating on it next week. Long story short, I’m not going to be riding again until the new year and then it’ll have to be phased in with physio. I’m wondering if buying one of those ijoy...

    Electric cars are coming....

That's my question as well. There are no petrol cars that can tow anything over 2000kg and I can't see that electric cars are going to cover this gap.

Show boots for the chunky calves ladies

I have never had a problem with the quality of fuller fillies stuff. Availability of some items can be a problem though - the boots are often sold out as soon as they come in.

Livery yards near Epsom, warlingham, woldingham etc

Hi Does anyone have a recommendation for a livery yard in the Epsom, Warlingham, Caterham, Woldingham areas? I need assisted livery during the week, but can do DIY at weekends.

    Chinese lanterns

Yeah. The fire risk is also a concern although at the moment probably not an argument that people will take seriously! Thanks for the NFU tip. I will look up that info and take along to the next meeting. Better to have done the research and have the backup otherwise it just looks like nimbyism.

    Chinese lanterns

Our school is having a big bash in the summer and is planning to round off the evening by releasing Chinese lanterns. I know there has been concern about these, particularly with regard to animals swallowing the wire from them. Am I being paranoid? Has any research been done?

Do you use a camera in your trailer?

I've just read through all this with great interest - I didn't realise that it was illegal for the driver to be able to see it, so thanks for that. I will make sure that it is available for the passenger only, to save hassle. There have been a couple of references to using a reversing camera...

Do you use a camera in your trailer?

Having just bought a trailer, I am now (needless to say) looking for all sorts of gadgets and fun stuff to go with it. Do any of you use a cctv to view the horses while you are travelling? or does that just worry you more? If you do use one, is there a particular brand/make you recommend...

    Want a ventilated riding hat!

I currently have a Charles Owen young rider hat (oh the irony!) at it fits really well. I had it professionally fitted at our local supplier. I now want to buy a ventilated hat, but the only one the supplier sells doesn't fit. Its not a Charles Owen though. I quite like the look of the...

    Trailer info part deux

Thanks all. I guess I need to look at the 505 instead then :-( The car is a Skoda Yeti 4 x 4 - rated to 2000kg and has enough torque to cope, but I was worried about being so close to the maximum limit. I haven't had the horses on a weigh bridge - just the weight tape, and they could just...

    Trailer info part deux

OK So - thanks to you guys I now have more info on cost of ownership. Next question. I've now weighed the 2 horses I will be transporting and between the two of them they are a smidgeon under 1000kg (about 980kg). The Ifor Williams 510 weighs 1000kg and my car can pull 2000kg - is this...

Does anyone else struggle with the business of getting on a horse?

I use a mounting block at the yard, and if I go to a show or anything I take a stepladder! It causes some raised eyebrows, but it does the trick.

    Trailer cost of ownership

I think I'm just going to take the plunge and finally buy myself a trailer. Costwise it doesn't make sense - unless you are out every weekend, it's cheaper to hire - but the convenience of having it there anytime I fancy taking a trip is going to be WONderful!! What I am trying to establish...

What do you think of the Tom Thumb bit?

I use one that is a combination of a tom thumb and an american gag - there's a slight difference in the shanks, mainly. I have to say I love it. My lad has NO mouth and thus NO brakes and used to be prone to leaning heavily on my hands. With this bit he is much lighter and carries his own head...

    Windsor sponsored ride

yes, I haven't seen any mention of min sponsorship, which is a good thing - so it's just the flat rate entry of £40. That is steep, but worth it to ride round Windsor.
