Hi all,
I've just come across this article on thehorse.com http://www.thehorse.com/ViewArticle.aspx?ID=16624 which talks about some new research that has been done into Cushing's disease. I personally found it very interesting, one of my firends horses has Cushing's and I think this may be...
There's been a spate of break in's around Notts, the people in the field next to my friends got broken into, fortunatly my friend has a yearling who plays like a puppy and a shire, the pair together are like guard dogs so we think they might have tried but ended up getting chased!
The place where I ride the liveries often join in on riding lessons and sometimes even the most experienced riders pick up a few tips and tricks along the way from the instructor. Think it also gives newbies a bit of confidence having slightly experinced riders on the lesson as they give them...
How can you even contimplate doing something like that?! Sickos all of them! These people should not be let out. As you've all said god knows what he'll do in a few years time!
In autumn months the ACTH is higher in normal horses anyway so PPID is normally diagnosed as 100> pg/ml so you have to becareful when you have the tests. Ge the insulin and cortisol done aswell. Can't give an accurate diagnosis from an ACTH result on it's own.

A ford KA called Matilda, she's fantastic, very cost effective. Tiny boot but with the back seats down you can fit more stuff in and if you put the front passenger seat right forward you can squeeze a couple of sacks of food down there.
My friends horse was on it so I helped her do quite a bit of research into causes of Cushing's and laminitis and different treatment regimes.
Unfortunatly Cushing's isn't the same in every horse, it basically causes a dramatic imbalance in hormones and the dopamine and ACTH become out of wack...
