Marestare *Element Arabs* horses have been stolen :(

From the things that come up if you google her name, I'm inclined to say it's a farce

Can I ask what you do with your 2 yrs olds.

By the time they are 2 they already (in most cases) load and travel well, and stand for vet/ farrier. At two we start bitting them, ground driving (using body language and vocal commands to move them away or around you, and change pace) and long lining. Once they are happy and obedient being...

Vibe please for my broken boy

Nathan has been in horsey hospital for two weeks now, and I miss him like crazy. I was riding him, he spooked and reared and after that he was not sound. Scans showed a bone chip in his hind leg, which has now been operated on. However, when they operated they found that his bones have softened...

How long can you survive without a horse when you've had them for a while?

Yes thanks, it's Nathan on the left, Sarai (his mother) in the middle, and Hayke on the right, all of whom I bred, so I guess I'm doing something right :D

How long can you survive without a horse when you've had them for a while?

I got my first pony in 1952, and have never not owned one since then! The only holidays I go on involve visiting the horses I've sold over the years, and the only time I go out it's to visit studs, go to shows or spend money on horses! So I guess you'd say none!

    Loading a 2 yr old

Is there anyway you can get the ramp down, and maybe with electric fence or an existing area, make it so the when the ramp is down, you and horse are penned in (so no running off to the side etc) This is the way I have always done it, but I guess it depends on how human and food orientated...

Constructive help on breaking without lectures please!

To be honest, it sounds as if you'd be best having someone else back and school the pony. Perhaps they could even supervise daughter for her first few rides to tell her the best way to deal with the pony. Ask around - vets, farriers, riding instructors etc - and find someone with a good...

can i have your opinions please :)

In the bottom photo, he appears to be a tad sickle-hocked, and on a personal level I'd rather he had a more refined neck, but other than that, he looks like a lovely sort.

How are the boys looking and a quick showing question :P

conformation wise, the both look like well put together horses from the photos provided, Ted more so than Leo. From what I can gather from the picture, Leo's toes are too long, which alters the axis of hoof to pastern (2nd I've seen tonight :D) however, with trimming it can completely alter...

    Conformation Critique

Regardless of what I'm going to say next, I think she is very pretty and has a nice eye/face. I also think that some of her imperfections may even themselves up if she grows or matures any more. Now for the not so complementary bit... - Yes, she is croup high. But she may still be growing...

    Breaking to harness

I have! Both Nathan and Hayke are broken to drive and ride, and my husband broke them himself! We do pleasure driving, do show driving classes, and are available for hire for weddings etc. It's great fun, especially for me, as my old bones are up to riding more than 3 or 4 hours a day, but the...
