Another Question about the RAW diet

I never thought i'd be feeding raw to my pup but on a visit to the petshop I decided to try the Natural Instinct range... It has the consistancy of tinned food but smells and looks better!! Pup seems to like it as well :-) My concern is that he is not getting anything to chew... he has an...

    First dog training class- thoughts?

Ok, understand that- Rusty already knows down, sit and stand to a word command so I guess it was aimed at dogs at a lower level than him ... I've checked that list and I will be moving over to a different trainer that is in the same vicinity but supports the methods I use (clicker etc.) and...

    First dog training class- thoughts?

Well no, they did not show us how to make them not pull- thats next week!!! I got told off that Rusty pulled to say hello to the other dogs and I let him. I hate letting dogs meet on the lead anyway as thats when there is likely to be problems, espically if you have a tense lead... I don't...

    First dog training class- thoughts?

Glad it's not just me then that thinks it's crazy. I understand the need to keep them under control but you can teach them without keeping them on the lead all the time- and on the pavements!

    First dog training class- thoughts?

So today Rusty and I had our first dog training class, I was bit unsure of some of their methods/ thoughts- could I have your opinions please? We were asked to only do road walking with our dogs for the next 3-4 months (obv. on lead) and never to allow them to pull. After that we could walk...

    What to feed?

Well... after a trip to the petshop today I ended up buying some Natural Instinct dog food...I said in my first post that I wasn't interested in trying raw but the shop person convinced me!! I also ended up with some of their lamb stick things which are lamb and heart- we are taking them to...

    What to feed?

Hi, I'm looking for a suitable, good quality, food for my Spaniel. He's 7months old and currently on Skinners Rough and Ready. He has been on this for two weeks now (only had him for two weeks- was on Bakers with his previous owners). He has been a bit loose on it and i'm not sure its...

    ess puppy

In my area there is a local "meetup" dog walking group that I will be taking my rescue Spaniel along to. Might be worth seeing if there is one in your area? Great (and cheap!) way of socialising dogs and people!! The one I'm part of is- http://www.meetup.com/Berkshire-North-Hants-Dog-Walkers/

Working or Show Springer? (photos included!)

I think he is a rather lovely boy! And it sounds like he is working- my old spaniel is stockier than him which is why I wondered... and he has slightly droppy eyes and jowls... thought they might be show traits! Either way i'm going to try and get him to do agility when he is all growed up!

Working or Show Springer? (photos included!)

So... I took on this lovely lad last weekend but can't decide if he is from a show or working line! It doesn't matter but i'm just intrigued to hear what others think (plus it gives me a chance to show him off!!). Anyway, meet Rusty a 7 month old Spaniel. He has settled in really well...

    Taking on a rescue

Thanks Blazing saddles thats reassuring I will still check with my vet just incase. Tess is not dominant in the slightest lol. She has shown some aggression if a dog jumps on her or is a bit over enthusiastic when greeting but can't blame her for that! Hopefully he will be the chilled meet and...

    Taking on a rescue

Oh dear! We would never want to put Tess at risk :-( I will have a chat to Battersea and our vet and see what they think- thank you for the heads up.

    Taking on a rescue

Yes, Tess will get final say! We have to take her up to meet him before we are allowed to take him home. Unfortunately he has kennel cough quite badly at the moment so I will have to get Tess inoculated (then wait the week before it takes effect) before they can meet. Tess has non-existant...

    Taking on a rescue

Well tomorrow I will be going to see a 3yo male lab x sharpei at Battersea Dogs Home Old Windsor. I've never had a rescue before or been to a rescue centre! They recommended this dog to us as we already have a 14yo Springer, cat, rabbits, chickens and I share a horse down the yard...
