    Impatient horse

ooh, no, I'm not about hobbles or anything like that - if it ever got that bad and I had no one, he can just walk round with me and I'm sure some kind soul would hold him which I walk courses etc.

    Impatient horse

Thanks Goldenstar - I agree with you, he just needs to get used to the idea - the only thing then is my trailer is getting more and more dented - not that I'm being too precious about it, it's there to be used after all, but I'd rather not have so many dents!

    Impatient horse

I think getting him off the box to have a look round before popping him back on might be worth a try - might just satisfy his curiousity. He's 6 and I've only had him since June so I am hoping that the more I get him out and about, the more used to it he will become and be less bothered about...

    Impatient horse

My boy is wonderful, talented etc etc etc (praise him before I have a moan!) but at shows, he finds it almost impossible to stand on the trailer patiently and paws the floor. Whilst I wouldn't normally be too bothered and leave him to it until he realises it doesn't achieve anything, he simply...

    Suitable bits

Subject to vetting, I should be able to pick up my lovely new boy next weekend.. He is a super, chunky ID and has a very thick neck - as such he has a tendency to be heavy in the hand. He has good mouth confirmation and is actually very soft in the mouth so doesn't tend to hang off that - more...

Foal size question - help please!

I wouldn't worry too much - 13hh for a 7 month foal seems a good height to me.. I am having a similar concern with my 3 yo - she's 15.1hh and looks in proportion at the mo.. but as I'm 6 foot, I really need her to be 16hh at least. Both mum and dad are 16.3hh! Unfortunately, it's just one...

Parelli - have I been mean?

Post 20 and no P-lovers yet...! I'm certainly not one either - I think you are doing the right thing by your horse, consistency is the key and with the right attitude and common sense, your loaner can still enjoy groundwork - if that's what they wish to do - without waving carrot sticks at it.

My annual WORD OF WARNING PEEPS!

Not patronising at all, just good advice and a timely reminder for everyone, so thanks. My girls are (hopefully) about to move off their winter paddocks this weekend.. (don't even get me started on my soapbox about that one, you'll never get me down..!) - My oldie 16.2hh good-doer ID will...

Hello & welcome, must say, your boy looks a very talented and handsome chap from the photos!

    Which trailer?

I have a Bateson deauville and I've always been delighted with it. It's lighter than the ifors and has "car suspension" i.e the wheels move independently on each side over bumps giving the horse a smoother ride. The ifors have jointed suspension I believe where if one wheel goes over a bump, the...

    Horse with ESP...?

I've just looked up the Henry Blake book and thie extract from the blurb made me smile... "...to use the language a horse uses - telepathy and extrasensory perception - to convince your horse that he wants to do what you tell him." - Do you think she will read my mind if I think about how much...

    Horse with ESP...?

My 3yo gets very excited and neighs and calls when she sees me which is all very sweet... But what I want to know is, how, when I am physically out of view, having not yet seen her or made a single noise, does she know I am there and start calling... As I say ESP..??!

    Too small?

Eek! Patience is not my strong point :) I may plant her hooves in baby bio and start watering her...!
