    Unofficial bridleway advice

You could offer to compensate the guy in exchange for using his land?

    Dressage - stage fright - best venue - Sparsholt/Hartpury

Omg mine absolutely lost the plot at Hartpury! I think we are blacklisted!!! :D And The Hand, if you remember that venue. We used to flippin take him there and lunge twice a week but he never got any better. Are there any unaff or clinics etc you can do at either venue in the meantime?

Move on or review and change?

I guess it depends on what went down on the day! It helps if you have an instructor that you can discuss the sheet with.

"5yo backed and ridden on": what would your expectations be?

Walk/trot/canter on the bit. Jump a round of small jumps if it's to be an allrounder, leg yield if it's to be a dressage horse. Ideally some experience hacking alone and in company, and a couple of outings under its belt.

Annoying mishap with newbie, where to go from here?

Just saw your reply!! She'll hopefully find a gung ho teenager or something like that x

Annoying mishap with newbie, where to go from here?

I think it's a rare horse that wouldn't do the same under the circumstances. And she didn't really do anything wrong - it wasn't like she took the opportunity to buck you off or anything like that. She's probably unsettled by the move and it was bad timing with the gun incident. I would give her...

Riders must change their behaviour to make roads safer?

I guess the point is you shouldn't endanger people just because they aren't 'grateful'. I always say thankyou but it's basic manners to slow down for riders - I wouldn't expect a thankyou from people I've stopped for at a pedestrian crossing for example. You can't mow people down just...

    PTS on Behavioural Grounds?

I would bet there is a problem with his back. Cold backed & panicking under saddle doesn't sound behavioural to me. If you've ruled out the obvious (ks) there's only so much you can do, whatever the diagnosis (ligament damage, changes in the si, pelvis injury etc) the prognosis is pretty much...

    PTS on Behavioural Grounds?

Oh how sad :( Bad situation for all of you, and poor little creature being passed from pillar to post his whole life. I think putting him to sleep is probably the kindest/safest thing to do, definitely don't move him again. I agree that there is probably something physically wrong. You could...

I started my horse in the wrong bit and now can't move on!

I use the Nathe flexi mouth on mine (it's also plastic) and have no problems with bend - it's definitely easier to separate aids than the happy mouth as it is thinner and more bendy.

Yep I know one that has made a full recovery. Don't know how likely a return to 4* is though.

    Bald horse??

Pippy had his hocks medicated in January and the area where he was clipped for the injections is still completely bald!! Has anyone experienced this? What could have caused it? Is there anything I can do?? Not really had any coat regrowth problems before, though he is admittedly looking a bit...

Anyone NOT hack out, and just stay in the school?

Fine is kind of subjective! I've seen some really miserable horses in the states where they didn't get turnout or hacking. Colic was just an everyday part of life for them and they all seemed to have joint problems too. It's no life for an animal. I'm not a huge fan of hacking (same as you...

Getting seriously fed up with being bitten now!!

Okay that's a good start! It's so helpful to have a pro involved. Just tell your instructor what she does, and ask her to watch you get her in from the field, get her ready and turn her back out. Then ask them what you need to do differently. Does she know that you've been bitten a couple of...
