    Backing 3/4yr olds

Yeah, the person who backed him has much longer legs. Those were on the shortest hole and looped round! My own stirrups are a much more sensible length :D

    Backing 3/4yr olds

I've just bought a lightly backed 13.2hh 3 year old irish cob. I wasn't planning on buying a baby, but I saw his face and had to try him. Ridden photo is from when I tried him out. Field photo is from when he first arrived. For reference, I'm 5ft3 and 9 stone. He is a lot narrower than my...

    PTS a pony that's "fine"

She isn't fine though, is she? With those issues she is likely to deteriorate and eventually won't be field sound. There is nothing wrong with PTS in these circumstances. Its different if you have your own land and can afford field ornaments.

    Caroline March

I hope that such a thing is available in this country one day. Some people will just not be able to physically or financially travel overseas for it. We aim to give our pets the easiest end possible, so why not people? RIP Caroline

recommendations for stretchy waisted breeches/short jodhpurs please

I've started riding again properly after slow ambling hacks for the past decade while my children have been small. I had just been using jeans/comfy trousers. I tried on my jodhpurs and none of them will do up at the waist, or if they do then they are very uncomfy! I tried on some riding...

water troughs - plastic vs galvanised steel, which is better?

I used to use an old bath when we lived in South Africa, it was great! Holds a huge amount of water, plus a handy plug for easy emptying and cleaning :D

water troughs - plastic vs galvanised steel, which is better?

My lovely big (very old) galvanized steel water trough has rusted through this winter, so I'm having to make do with trugs and smaller troughs at the moment. I'm looking to replace it ASAP. I'm wanting something about 6ft long so it can go between two fields. Also great if its not too heavy so...

Prices for 2021 big hay heston?

Hi. Usually we make our meadow hay into small bales, but last year we had to do it into large square hestons. We've finally got to the end of our leftover 2020 small bales and I need to start charging for the big bales. I'd love to have idea of what would be a fair price for this. What is...

    Adopting stable cats

You often have to contact the branches themselves about feral/barn cats. I know that my local one is often asking for homes for them on their facebook page. Maybe you could join a few? Where in Yorkshire are you?

How to beef up mains electric?

Updated to say that mine has 8,000 volts at the beginning and 6,500 volts at the end (with 4 gateways in between). It seems to be keeping them in at the moment, I think the trouble is on cold, miserable days when boredom strikes!
