I lost a horse to twisted gut. I did everything to make sure my horse was well cared for. And those around her.
I saw one of the yard horses laying in the field and went into colic mode, called the YO out, walked her to a stable for the vet. Turned out she had a collapsed fetlock and died...
My little baby cobby cross is all grown up and broken and doing dressage in 6 months!! She is half TB and incredibly bright though.
I can't wait till her mother's "stubborn mule" streak kicks in though XD XD
We used to have an eventing cob, loved his dressage and was a speed demon on XC, but we never took him to anything other than riding club events.
Still, he used to win lots and make 20+ TB/WB owners feel very sheepish ;)
I had Carrie PTS at 20 because the only option to save her was surgery and I knew it would kill her in the long run.
I have been torn up ever since (it's 11 years next month :( ). I regret that I didn't beg them to operate. That I didn't make the vets save my horse, instead, I asked them to...
Was very sad to hear this :(
I've lost both my girls now and that was a trauma enough for an adult. I can't imagine what this poor wee man is going through :(
Also posted in the severe weather section, but it'll get more views here...

I had pigs and rabbits until recently and I'm 26 :)
Still have the bunnies, thankfully, but I miss my pigs all the time :(
My best mate has a pig and she's 30 now!
Pigs are the best :)
Sorry... this one's going to upset people!
People who rely on the word of a so called "professional saddle fitter" to fit the most important piece of tack they'll ever own, then blindly sit on it regardless of whether their horse changes shape, whether how they ride changes, whether the saddle...
I don't want to sway your opinion from doing what's right for you, but I do wanna tell you my story.
Dorey had a ligament injury which wasn't getting better. I couldn't afford to keep an ill horse. We only had one option left and it wasn't the nicest.
But I kept refusing to have her PTS...
ChristmasSparkles - My last memories focus on the long walk across the yard to find out why she wasn't standing at the door, which gets longer every time I remember it, and the moment I put my hand out to touch her face. I already knew she was gone but feeling her cold like that confirmed it...
Did anyone else just find theirs gone?
I'm beginning to find myself haunted by all the stuff I couldn't do, like say goodbye, and although I hugged and kissed her when they came to collect her it just wasn't the same :(
How long did it take people to recover? It's 15 months now :(
