Just looking for people's opinions before I buy a new bridle. Pony is a 14hh connie X with an attitude who leans on the bit a little and occasionally has a delightful habit of grabbing the bit in his teeth and running off with me!! He's mostly well behaved nowadays to school and to hack, and is...
Just get as much off as possible, no point worrying about it now :) mine are always clean for appointments but they're all in at night so that makes it a lot easier. As long as they're dry I'm sure it'll be fine.
Haha they sound very similar! Mine is clipped out too except for his legs and head. I might try the pig oil, I've heard some good stuff about it. Thank you :)
Ooh lovely, they are fab ponies! I wish I could do the same but I just can't stand to take my white pony to winter shows with an orange...
Haha it looks that way! I looked into snuggy hoods but have heard lots of horror stories about them so I'm steering clear for now.
Has anyone tried show sheen, baby oil or pig oil?
Hi, I have a grey connie pony who just loves to roll :) he's out in full neck combos all the time but still manages to get his head and the very top of his neck dirty. I'm not usually too fussy about muddy legs, but the ground at our yard must have a lot of clay in as his face is getting stained...
Ex riding school pony is being a tit again, too stubborn for his own good! If anybody has any advice please share, I'm at my wits end with him!!
Problem 1 - he's fine in walk, will do school movements etc and walk/halt transitions but if you ask for trot sometimes he will just stop, plant and...
I'll try to keep this brief although I have a tendency to ramble :)
Will soon be bringing two ponies back into work, both geldings 10-15 years old one has previously been used in a riding school where he was worked very hard and one was a decent competition pony a couple of years ago but was...
My new connie was in a full cheek waterford snaffle, very good for strong horses. He's been 'downgraded' to a French link now but the waterford is excellent as the full cheek pieces help you to turn more effectively by applying slight pressure on the cheek. Also the waterford mouthpiece is made...
Our outdoor school is £10/hour base charge then £5 for each horse. Good surface, floodlights, 20x40ish I think, jumps included in the price. My old yard was £20/hour and jumps extra depending on how many you had but it was bigger in size. West Midlands.
Aw that sounds incredible! It's great when you have such a good session and it sounds like you really deserve it. My recent breakthrough was yesterday when my abused welsh pony approached me in the field - for the first time since I got him about a month ago. He only took a piece of carrot and...
FoxyO - aw that's great to hear! He'll definitely be a long term project so I'm hoping he'll settle in as well as yours has.
LadyRascasse - that's a good idea, he's a little underweight so it'll probably be a good thing for him to have a month or so of rest. Thank you!
Tern - okay I'll do...
Wow well done with the travelling improvements! It's horrible when you have a bad experience like that. Finlay is absolutely gorgeous, congrats on your result.
Thanks very much everyone for your comments! :)
They’re arriving tomorrow morning and I’m so excited already!
Sukistokes2 – yep the plan is to do the majority of the work this summer then try to sell them before xmas but knowing me I’ll probably get too attached to be...
Hi everyone,
So over the last week Ive somehow found myself acquiring another three horses the parents are not too pleased, to say the least! In addition to my stallion and Connemara gelding, I now have another Connemara, a welsh section A and a new forest. I will admit right off that all...
