It was perfect as it changed shape with him, was not resptrictive in any way and allowed him to comfortably move forward with confidence. I am letting it...
Just chatting with some friends at the yard, and some of them saying that next year they will turn their horses away for 3 months over the winter, rather than struggle in the snow. Most are saying for the 3 months of DEC, JAN and FEB.
Just wondering if anyones horses have the winter off...
Thanks all. I went and tried the horse for a second time and got bucked off! Hence not going to do a trial now!
But great advice and will bare it in mind if any future trials are possible.
I have found (I think) a horse that I would like to have on trial. The owners keep the horse at home, (one of only 2), no menage and very limited facitilies. I will keep horse on a large livery yard, with 40 horses, 60 acres and two menages etc etc.
Because the change in environment is going...
I have had a few horses, there names were:
13.2hh new forest bay gelding "Bay Warrior" stable name Robin.
15.2 Anglo Arab Chestnut mare "Mystic Lady" stable name Hollie
14.3 PB Arab Grey mare "Heaven Sent" stable name Angel
14.2hh Welsh Cob bay gelding "Burlington Bertie" stable name...
Just deciding what to do with my rising 4 year old come the spring.
Backed last summer and rode round the menage in a walk and trot. Then turned away the last 10 weeks.
I am thinking about just hacking all spring and summer and then turning away for 3 months next winter (dec, jan and feb)...
I dont think Hampstead heath and Hyde park are hacking distance! Unless you want to do 10 miles each way on busy London roads.
I used to go to shows there years ago when it was owned and run by Jack Clark. I think it is now run by his daughter.
Seems to be a fun yard, good for kids...lots...
I pay £2 for either turn out or bring in, year round.
(includes rug changes and hosing off in winter) I think this is fair as in summer it takes seconds but in winter can take 15 minutes or more.
Muck out £5
feeds or haynets 50p each
on and off horse walker £2
Full cover £8 per day.
Just wondering who has advertised and sold (or not) a horse in the past few months.
Please share.
How much did you advertise for? what did you actually get for horse??
What was it? Size? Age? Type?
Hi all
I am at the point where I am starting to look for a new horse. I want ....
Show type cob, approx 15hh, true heavyweight (up to carrying 14 stone). Aged 6 to 10 years. Sensible, but active, responsive and forward going paces. Can be a little green but must be willing to learn...
