Fingers crossed a different approach will be taken this winter as flockdown presents a huge welfare issue and so many of my friends are not restocking and intend to give up chickens in the long term.
I did find last year’s lockdown a bit of a travesty! We are very close to an outbreak area and...
My 9 year old terrier has lost weight post dental surgery. She now has hardly any teeth so recommendations to help build her up would hugely appreciated. Thank you.
Welfare within the worse world is going to become a massive, massive issue within the next few years. Unless horse sport and horse ownership cleans up its act we are going to find our events and our participation on horse ownership increasingly targeted and criticised. We all need to grow a...
Check out the Bailer Twine Appreciation Group on Facebook, almost as good are the Gate Appreciation Society and the Bathtubs in Fields Appreciation Group.
Job adverts on Facebook - I've ranted before and I am sure I will rant again. Why do some horse employers think they are exempt from employment and health & safety laws? No, a 60 hour week, every week, isn't legal...., paying below the minimum wage isn't legal, offering no paid holiday isn't...
Make sure you get an agreement in writing so you know exactly what the plan is for your horse, how much exercise, how much schooling, how many days off, length of time spent under saddle, who will be riding, what is included and what is extra.....

I don’t miss the negative side of the horse...
We use the members as it is undercover seating with TVs if you fancy a break from the walking plus better loos with smaller queues. You can also grab a chair and watch the main ring activities. I wouldn’t recommend it for eating in the snack part (expensive and not great choices or quality) and...
What a sad situation you find yourself in and I empathise having been there myself.
You have clearly articulated your concerns and show great empathy - you could just say to your friend what you have said to us. Maybe share your words with them?
A good friendship will survive this bump in the...
Not horse related and maybe discussed before but:
- the huge amount of ‘commenting turned off’ spam posts showing a lost dog, a missing older person or a child that didn’t get to school.
- job adverts where the poster lists working hours, hourly rates (one even gave a paid day off for...
