11 degrees

We are at 7 degrees today with gales and heavy showers. Last night was the first time we had winter rugs on since spring

it’s been a cold day at work with the wind swirling around the shed.

7 degrees and windy and rainy here. Rainsheets for Little Dragon and MrT. 100g for The Beast. They're not getting more coddled than that until they aren't quite so fat. They've all got the equivalent of a subcutaneous 100g rug at least!

Mine have been naked up until this evening, we’ve had some unforecast heavy rain tonight with cold wind and my TB was actually screaming at me that she was cold when I went down this evening.. popped a thin-ish rug with a neck on her & she stopped screaming ? meanwhile the PRExWelsh was happily grazing in the middle of the field so he stayed nakey!

All naked still bar 2 tbs , one is in a 300g with neck and still didnt feel massively warm today. He has no condition currently tho.
Heavy rain coming in 12 hours tomorrow so think some 0gs can go on!

We’re 9c at the mo and the wind’s died down thankfully. Bit chilly for me. I’m happy at a nice 16-20c. Horse is too hot though can’t wait for clippers to arrive!

Your horses don't want to be toastie-just not cold. My native type is clipped out (inc legs) and has a 50g turnout on overnight and a 50g stable for about an hour before I ride to warm his back muscles. Every horse is different though. One of mine seemed happiest in what is in my opinion over rugged, another happiest unrugged unless it was raining. Both are very fine coated WB. All of them hold their weight though

9 degrees here just now with a very chilly wind and wet. The summers been hot and ground was so solid and now suddenly we're chucked into this weather, bit of a shock to the system! I think people overthink rugging, every horse is different so just rug how you feel it right, not what next door is doing etc. Im on top of a windy hill, my veteran is always quite skinny these days so I rug him quite well despite his thickish coat as he really feels the cold. My other one is also in a medium weight as she has such a thin coat. Theyve been totally naked all summer so Im finding it annoying having to start the rug changing lark again for the next few months... ugh.
