People shouldn’t be in denial horses sports could be banned if we don’t fix the problems in the equestrian world it will be banned . There are people who are very against horses being ridden and they think it’s downright abuse they are very vocal about it. The horse world is really changing look at the different between 1900s and now . I think the problem us equestrian have is keep it modern if it’s becomes outdated it will disappear. I think the future of horse world is not looking great it wouldn’t surprise me in the next hundred years horse riding doesn’t exist.

Not worldwide though. The practices in the Middle East are shocking.

Of course, but the horses that are flown over to compete in the races here are raced under either EGB or FEI rules as above. Unfortunately can only comment on UK practices

no animals are involved and its popularity is growing, so yes, that would be why. That is how it works.
Yes but its not a sport - its dancing (in the title)!! It's only in to make the Olympics seem more hip, at least skate boarding is a sport got no issues with having sports come in or go out but bloomin heck.
Maybe it may be better if horse sports weren't in the Olympics - I don't know.

With respect, it doesn’t really matter if you consider it a sport or not. The IOC does, and a lot of people will really enjoy watching it. It has been included because a trial went really well and it had great engagement amongst younger audiences.

It’s not a bad thing for the Olympics to seem “more hip” if “more hip” means greater representation and diversity - neither of which equestrianism supplies. If the IOC wants to appear more modern and reflective of their audience, that is bad news for the FEI.

I also cannot tell you how many people have said “it’s not a sport” about horse riding.

I also can't help comparing the carbon footprint of running breakdancing as an Olympic sport with flying dozens of 5-700kg horses around the world with grooms, vets, farriers, physios, tack, forage etc etc . It really is becoming a bit indefensible, considering the issues with climate change.

How on earth is it not a sport? If you take the definiton of sport as "an activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another or others for entertainment" it is definitely a sport. I've never done breakdancing but I've taken part in ballroom dancing competitions, dancing is a bloody good workout, on top of that it takes a lot of skill and technique to make it look effortless and competitions are super competitive.
