2025 Eventing Euros - long list

The coverage on the BBC has been rubbish. Constantly following the crowd instead of the horse, chopping half the horse off, just completely missing shots. Really irritating!

But we can’t blame the BBC for this. They are working with the feed provided by the FEI. And we need to get the viewing figures on BBC so that we do get BBC coverage of future events.

Radio Times listing says morning SJ coverage on BBC Sport is from 10.50 to 12.30 and afternoon session from 1.50 to 3pm

(and yes - I'm old enough to still get RT!)

So the coverage provided by the BBC is the same as that being offered by FEI TV?

Also the BBC isn’t a charity, we do pay for it…
No, it's not exactly the same as it is produced and slightly tweaked by the FEI for each viewing country that is paying, thus seeing the GB horses waiting to start. Does your tv licence fee cover the BBC to provide a full outside broadcasting team for such an event do you think, because these events are so expensive to cover? Did you find the show-jumping coverage this morning ok, because I thought it was very good - lovely to see the sunshine at Blenheim, it looked amazing. However, I also enjoyed the x-country yesterday, really fascinating to watch with problems all around the course, together with trying to be close to the time. So much better than the fairly short segments on a Saturday afternoon we used to be given back in the day.

We do pay for it but we seem to get never ending football for our money so it's nice to get the whole day of eventing even if coverage wasn't the best.

As a football fan, we don't, only some of the cups, all PL, CL and Europa games are on paid channels

Likewise the F1, which used to be on mainstream tv, is on Sky, bar the odd race

The BBC is making a profit, has over £2bn in revenues and is paying huge sums to management. It makes a huge amount from licensing and from advertising, outside of tv licenses. And tv licenses are borderline forced, given how vociferously they chase anyone who dares not to want one. I don't think it's one of those organisations that it's unfair to criticize.

Exactly - the feed the BBC has is the one being filmed and shown by FEI/CMH, hence the graphics (that bloody graphic!) camera placement, and quality etc. They would have paid x amount for the rights to show yesterday and today with zero control over what’s been shown. The commentators didn’t know Yasmin had fallen off yesterday because even their own tv feeds didn’t show it.

The Beeb is worthy of criticism but quality of the Euros this weekend is not their fault!

The issue that I have with mine is that the picture keeps freezing, pausing and then jumping forward. It's the BBC app not the physical footage.

I have resolved it by exiting "live" as an option and watching it a few minutes behind. Which is annoying because it increases the gap much more than the normal gap for basic editing, but at least is working. I am currently watching Sarah Ennis.

Well my coverage cut out in all three final rounds. But I’m guessing that was something at home level? Although we’ve never had the issue before.

Awesome from Laura and London 52 🤩
Flipping FEI or Beeb or whoever was responsible for deleting the clock, kinda dampended the tension as couldn’t see if they were inside the time 🤨
It was the FEI and whoever was providing the tv feed. Not the beeb. It was annoying yesterday that very few had times showing for the xc. Even more annoying today. Whoever the FEI got to do the telly call coverage weren’t up to the job.

Congrats to Laura. Well deserved title. And to Tom for a good third.
