2025 Eventing Euros - long list

The coverage on the BBC has been rubbish. Constantly following the crowd instead of the horse, chopping half the horse off, just completely missing shots. Really irritating!
Well to be fair the coverage of the show jumping today has been very good, and all credit to Tina Cook and the male commentator (I think Steven Wilde but not sure) after doing yesterday without a break they came out today and did the same…so that was some feat….Congratulations to both…super job…

I found the FEI/Beeb coverage yesterday was awful for the first 90 to 120 mins but it did get better as the day went on. Think this was due to the director realising where the problem areas were on the course and cutting between them (very quickly by the end of the day) so that the arena, roller coaster/water xing, pond where Halo had his problem and the FEI mounds were all shown.

Did find the crowd shots annoying and wasteful and after yesterday and today I'm heartily sick of the FEI purple sliding page.

Was pleased today that they didn't cut program off after Laura went but stayed for interviews.

Overall I found it nice to see that it ended up being a competition where the XC took a significant part in the results (shame for the UK fallers). Also nice to see most horses finishing well or at least tired but few looking completely done in.

So pleased for Tom and Laura! (Only just seen it, went to the yard this morning so been catching up on iplayer). That German rider must be grateful to the crowd! The one who took the wrong turn, I mean. Really glad Tom got an individual medal, I thought he deserved one for his cross country round after what had happened to all the previous British riders...
Am I the only person who hears 'Fishandchipman' when the commentators say 'FischerChipmunk'?

Fabulous result! So pleased for her and Tom, and MJ too because he’s such a lovely guy.
I’m just in awe of both Tom and Laura - they are just such fabulous team members (and individuals!). They’ve been so consistent on teams for five years now.

Not knocking the French, but I’d love to have seen Switzerland get a medal (France, Germany and the U.K. have had plenty!)

I agree. Feel so gutted for Switzerland!

Anyone seen a mention of our success on the BBC news. I watched this morning and saw the football reports and the athletics reports where we got silver and bronze and told it was the worst GB performance in over 20 years , I was then expecting to see Laura and Tom, nothing!!! Unless I missed it

Well I have not covered all the BBC news but just read the Telegraph Sports section at breakfast and - not a mention 😖 😖 But, as you say, plenty of page coverage of Tokyo!!!

It was buried on the BBC website yesterday- somewhere in the sports section

Would it help if we get as many people as possible to click on the link and read the story?

Do the BBC simply need to see the page get some interest?

Thoroughly enjoyed watching the competition, grateful I could do so without paying $$$$$ to CMH. Pleased that London beat Chipmunk, he deserves his title and it’s hard not to warm to Laura.
We always hear such a lot about the UKs “strength and depth” thought it was interesting when a couple of their normal teams horses weren’t available they crashed and burned (I’m sure it was just bad luck but interesting).

It was just bad luck. All of the U.K. people that fell had fabulous track records, with consistent results at top levels and were doing really well until they fell. They were riding to be competitive. If they’d have gone slower and not so competitively, like the more “novice” nation’s team members that managed to get round they probably wouldn’t have fallen. They were worthy team members. All top riders have fallen at some point (Micheal Jung at Burghley..).

Even Dickie Waygood has been quoted as saying the bubble had to burst sometime, it was just unfortunate it was on home soil.

I do think we are at a turning point though - Dan and Dubs don’t have years of champs left in them, and the only way you get the next generation of horse (and rider) is to give them the champs experience in the first place. Think the Worlds will be interesting, especially given they’re at Aachen.

I thought it was interesting - clearly experience shown through at the end of the day and Dan and Dubs made it look very do-able. Nice to see Laura and Dan finally get that individual gold as he comes toward the end of his team's career. And the constant level head to head with Chipmunk for many years has been really interesting.

I was at the water watching when Piggy fell and off and was so surprised - he jumped in brilliantly but then just didn't appear to read it. Fwiw I didn't like that corner in the water because it wasn't clear that you weren't landing on land, and you were also landing really right on top of the crowd.

As someone who is pretty sick of the sight of union jacks and England flags festering on lampposts right now I was pleased to be rooting for team Ireland instead for the weekend. Cracking performance and I feel like Ireland is starting to have the strength and depth that will make future champs very exciting for them. Imagine if colorado blue had been there - they could've been on Germany's heels for gold!

Also enjoyed the surprise of having access to the ringside agria garden all weekend for free tea, coffee, cans of soft drinks and a seat with a view of the dressage as an agria policy holder!

Exactly, the general public have absolutely no idea GB won a gold and a bronze in a European championship, yet we get loads of cover when the men’s football or cricket teams bomb!!!! Makes me really annoyed and I’ve written to the BBC once again on this topic..surely as a country , we should be celebrating any success..

XC rounds of the day for me were Sarah Ennis on her lovely 10yo who despite over jumping everything kept it up right to the end, and the gorgeous grey mare from Luxembourg who looks very like (and had the same 'hold my beer I've got this' attitude) to my beloved and sadly departed horse of a lifetime in my sig. RIP Bella.
Delighted for the Irish, not gonna lie I was relieved when Ian got a bit of breathing space for his SJ - I thought his performance on Saturday coming last of the day after the two superstars didn't get enough praise

On a separate note, I did complain to Blenheim via social media as they have been advertising for a long time that 'all the action' from the 8/9yo class 'throughout the week' would be shown on H&C- when in fact it was only the XC. One of our lovely 8yo's from the yard was over there and jumped a double clear, and we got to see about 5 fences XC and that was it. So not even nearly 'all the action' at all..

I think I might drop a note to Stable Events, who did the organising to let them know that having the interactive course maps etc would have been brilliant... if there was any mobile coverage or WiFi.

The announcers kept saying "just a reminder that you can follow all the action on the website" and I couldn't even open the home page.

The Irish team were awesome. Ian didnt know what he had in hand and was duly rewarded by the crown going mad I loved the young Turkish girl and the young German team member. It was brilliant being there as saw all the SJ and XC for both events plus alot of arena eventing. Much more relaxed than the big Bs and the international feel was great with so many languages.
Everyone was there for the competition not just to be seen.
