A whole week on the new forum already!

What's everyone got planned for the weekend?

Kira is off to a show tomorrow, just one class as they are only doing one AM and I am keeping everything crossed that we'll manage to tie up her winter qualification... eep.

Then a fairly horse-free weekend, it's my hen do on Saturday so only time to tick Salty over and visit the old dears in the field. It's strange doing normal humaning, I'm sitting here with freshly curled hair having just had my trial with the hairdresser and it's really weird!

Have fun all, hope the weather is kind :)

I'm having a jumping session on Koko this evening to try and decide on whether we go showjumping or hunting on Sunday. My showjumping nerves are still there in force and whilst I will happily go out jumping things in the hunt field now, a course of smallish showjumps still fills me with fear which is rather frustrating :/ I've decided that if it goes OK this evening then we will go jumping but if there's any issues then I will head out to hound exercise and do more SJ practice at home.

Saturday we are taking Koko to have her first official horseball training session with a view to her playing in the Open Championships at the end of this month! I'm not sure there will be another Irish Draught playing but God loves a trier!

I've giving Big Sam a week off after all his adventuring. He's come home looking really fit and well but all that travelling must be hard for a big horse like him so he can just have some time dossing in his field as I think he deserves it!

We have a jumping clinic on Saturday (rain is forecasted :(!!) and a 10 mile sponsored ride run by the local hunt on Sunday which I am so excited for! Can't wait to let my connie stretch her legs and have some fun!

Oooo, exciting MP, that seems to have come round quickly!

Have fun whatever you do Wimbles - whenever I've had a break from jumping I'm always more concerned about sj than xc, which is bonkers considering how much showjumping I've done 😕

Have a blast with you're Connie ObaC

I went to hoys yesterday which was delightful. And now I'm busy dying from what, I am warned, may be man flu 😷

Oh no! Man flu is The Worst !
Yeah, this time in a week I'll be putting up bunting o_O

I have not posted here in a while, seem to be just lurking, so in the spirit of the new forum.

Friday after work quick ride to run through my DTM floor plan and hope i remember it all.
Saturday afternoon, I am doing Novice DTM test at a lovely local venue, in between doing a rugby match drop off and return pick up to Twickenham for OH and his 5 mates ! (I must be mad !)
Sunday Dressage Writing, very early AM start at Tweseldown then riding in the afternoon

Good luck to all those out competing

I'm just having lessons at home with the big cob this weekend. Jumping on Saturday and flat on Sunday. The benefits of stabling at a riding school!

My little cob was moved to Leahurst on Tuesday and was supposed to have surgery today to remove his eye. However, there is a possibility of corneal cross linking at a hospital in Penrith, so he might be moving there tomorrow for the day, standing surgery under sedation. He would then travel back to Leahurst the same day since there isn't stabling at the other place. I'm just waiting to hear with my fingers crossed!

Good luck Millie-Pops! And have a fabulous hen do
Wimbles - would never dare hunt! SJ is scary too but not as scary as the H word.
Get well soon DabDab and have a fab ride, obaconnie.

It's the end of year championships at out local SJ venue and so we are all going there. Amber to do the 80/85 and 90/95 classes. Max and Jenny 70/75 and 80/85.
Last time I took Amber pure SJ she jumped clear in the 80/85 but then had 3 down in the 90/95 so I am hoping for a better round. I had a lesson this week and the key is the quality of the canter apparently and lack of balance round the corners which is my useless steering. So hopefully I can ride a bit better so she arrives at the fences a bit better!

Saturday I am going to a full day talk on lameness problems with sue Dyson and one of the local vets. Sunday I will go SJ I think

wow MP, I must have missed the most exciting bit, you are getting hitched !! Massive congratulations, what are you doing for your hen do ? When is the big day ?
Sounds like a busy weekend for you wimbles. Have fun
Get better soon DabDab.
Good luck AE & Wheels I shall keep my fingers crossed for lots of double clears and frillies
Dressagecob - Hope your little cob is ok
No plans at all for us, so I will have to wait for your updates for my competition fix.

Good luck everyone.

I'm taking son and pony to some low key WH on Saturday morning, might bring my boy too if I can be annoyed plaiting two.....

On Sunday we are having a family outing to a hunt ride 😲😲😲 hubby and his wonky hip too...

Best of luck to all competing, to MP for her hen party, and to dressage cob for her poor little pony x x x

yup tis true :p
hen do is a weird (for me) girlie day, having our nails done with cake and prosecco, then gin tasting and tapas in the evening. Low key, hoping for no tackiness and just some good laughs :D
Wedding is next friday, eek!

oh my word Fiona, those photos are seriously cute. I have to look forward to grandkids before I can do stuff like that again.

hahaha well I did have a look at the show calendar but there was nothing on for us :p
OH is going shooting so... I think I'll just be doing honeymoon packing and cuddling the horses ;)

Pinkvboots i LOVE violet gin, the Boe one is yum and I am also a fan of the Whitley Neill one, lovely!

Love that costume Fiona. They look great.

Have an awesome hen MP and all the best for the big day. Will the horses make an appearance??

Out again this weekend which is unusual as I don’t tend to go out two weeeknds in a row. But this one is more low key but hopefully lots of fun as am off on a sp ride with a friend. South Ox ride which is one of my favs and hoping we’ll be feeling brave and do some of the bigger fences but overall just want to get out, have a blast and talk horses pretty much the whole time.

Go number 3 at fixing the trailer brakes this weekend so I'm still grounded :( Bobbie has been stood in the carriage and walked a few times now, so we will see how it goes, but might hitch her up properly this weekend, competent helper and instructor dependant!

Good luck to everyone competing!
Fiona - love the knight pic, they look amazing!
MP - enjoy your hen do, sounds like a lovely day!

We're moving yards again  With our old yard closing back in July, we moved to a very friendly yard which has been great, but space has come up at a place with amazing hacking that is building a 60x40 Andrew Bowen arena so we're heading there. I can't wait to have hills again! So Saturday will be yard move, then maybe a mooch around the new hacking spots - we can head straight up to the Uffington White Horse and then over the downs onto the Lambourn gallops. Should be fab!

I'm moving yards this weekend as well. Current yard is nice enough, has grass(!) but the only arena (indoor) is off limits when the YO gives lessons, which happens to be the exact time I come out to ride :( There's just road hacking, which isn't the best for E who lacks confidence going places alone. We're moving to a great place, the arena is always available plus they've almost finished a super new SJ area. Best thing is the hacking, through forests and adjoining properties :D There's less grass, but I'm used to that coming from drought so will just up the hay availability to the pony. Hope she likes it! Enjoy your weekends everyone :)

First dressage to music planning session in between moving house! Doing pairs at the yard fun day - any tips greatly received as my only dressage experience is Intro B about 6 months ago!!

Have a fab time on your Hen Do MP!
What a fab costume Fiona!

Have fun all!

I've got a jumping lesson on a nice, sensible schoolmaster, so I can work up the courage to get off the ground now I've got a horse who isn't terrified of poles.

Oh, and I've got a horse being delivered.

don't forget to share some pictures! it's easy to attach them now :p

She's not 100% mine yet - there was confusion with passports which meant I didn't bother going ahead with the vetting. However, her actual passport has now been located (in Ireland, of course), so she's coming to me for a week's trial while the paperwork gets sorted, and then I'll get her vetted from mine. (Of course, I'll probably fall in love with her and buy her even if she fails the vet miserably.)

I'm torn between not wanting to jinx things too much by talking about it; and wanting to shout from the rooftops that, at the grand old age of 41, I'm finally buying the pony I longed for as a kid!
