A dressage horse is described as mechanical?

Hello, i recently heard someone knowledgeable describe a well known dressage horse as mechanical. I didn't think at the time to ask what the person meant. The only info I could find was about actual mechanical horses :D Does anyone here know?
 
Have you also heard a dressage horse described as "expressive"? "Mechanical" is basically the opposite of that. It's just going through the motions with no flair or style. That's my interpretation anyway.

I would take it as meaning that the test was accurate and correct but lacking any flair or personality. It's nice to see a happy horse, swinging through the movements and expressing itself. To me, a mechanical horse would be one seemingly static in its frame/expression, just going through the motions.

P.S. I quite like the idea of rivets...be nice to replace legs when they go wrong just by using a spare off ebay and a rivet punch, lol

I'll patent the idea and see what I can do :p We can all look forward to saving a fortune on vets' bills!!

Just think! You could have a dressage set, a jumping set, a XC set. And if the horse was grey, you could take them off completely the night before a competition so they didn't get covered in poo stains!
 
Come on then folks, crowdfund me and I'll get working on these replaceable legs for all our steeds :p

My grey always has what I call a rose grey leg. It's not really, she just lies in wee and it looks darker than the other three!

I can just imagine sifting through the auction listings looking for a bay 15.2hh leg, but being outbid as they're the most popular, so settling for a chunky white (well, off white/yellowish) feathered 14.2hh instead.

Yes but the chunky feathered ones never break!
 
Can you do one for riders too? I need a new hip - a mechanical one would be fine as long as it works and matches my other leg. However, if they only come as a pair then the extra long, slim super-model version would be nice - although then the rest of me wouldn't match the legs ..........
