Not a lot £50-£100, but unfortunatly it will cost £200-£250 to get them gelded, then the cost of keeping them for another 1-2 years to breaking, schooling point, but they do make nice chilldrens small adult ponies, I do like the roan as I have a soft spot for roans. WE have the same problem here on dartmoor, the colt weeners at the round up sales dont get any bids at £25 only cost 20p for the shot, as wrong as this sounds to many people its best thing for them in the long run.

Am I allowed to use a calculator?

Thought not. OK The roan as he stands in current climate, £75 and the bay £45 cos bays are everywhere. (See I'm an expert

As babies - a fiver each.

Do I win?

Surely you would have to pay meat price or above to take them OUT of the meat chain. Why would less be accepted when a profit could be made. i dont know what current meat price is though - so im pretty useless!

I'm guessing a sensible price is nowhere near what was actually paid, maybe £1500?? each

well i would pay whatever they would make as meat or a smidge more- no idea how much that is but still!

come on JM07 - speak- how much!!

I have been offered a X 14h pony (papered i think!) for £500 but its backed, but on the road to nowhere

not even close.....

meat ponies are highly prized ATM with the latest passport/microchip cock up from DEFRA.....

o JM stop being mean and put us out of our misery- how much for the little chap with a aerial stuck out his back? he must be double price with a usp like that!

QR I really like the bay.. as for the "gooserump" if my vision serves me well i would say that is just the way he is standing, foot rested and on a hill. Given time and work he could be a real looker.

I would say about £60 for the pair.

I like the bay too, I agree with bensababy about the way the little one is standing added to the fact as a 2yo he is as they often are bum high!

How muck will it cost to get them gelded quickfires estimation of around £200 - £250 to geld sounds very steep!

If we did not know it was you jm and that you have picked them up from the meat farmer but had brought them privately then I would say around £250 maybe more for the roan because of his colour

Jesus that price has shot up since I had a horse gelded think it cost me £80 to have it done in the stable was way back in 1998 though

What question are you actually asking - now I've been back to read the replies? How much would they have cost when you got them (which is what I answered) or how much would it cost to keep them til they were ready for sale? Or how much now?

Gah, woman. I've lost, haven't I
