Ok, it has come to my attention there are still some of you who have no idea what this is

Mostly my fault because its taken me such a long time to get wind into!!

A lesson with is my little idea, that has been brought into reality by a few fab people on the forum who have helped me no end with ideas, brainstorming and techy things!!

Basically, I have a huge list (i think 40no strong) of people willing to give a lesson (sometimes more than one!) to some lucky people from the forum. I have XC riders, SJers, dressage, drivers and problem horse people - all waiting to give you some of their time.

In return the pupil donates their lesson fee (£20) to EMW (see link in siggy!) The pupil also needs to arrange transport to the Instructor unless otherwise stipulated and be happy to have pictures taken and write ups done. We even have some instructors that can let you ride their horses and will be looking into people lending a horse for a lesson - for those horseless of you!

The onus of this is on fun, making us all better riders and rasiing money for a fab charity at the same time.

There are, as always a few points that need ironing out and they will be done over the coming weeks but until then please keep an eye out for posts !!

Just wondering which forum you will be posting the lessons on? (or will you just put it in all e.g. NL2, CR, SB?)

plus is it weekly draws? (sorry remember the original sign-up/ idea post but i have an awful memory

where has she gone!

Afaik.

weekly draws, thread starts on a sunday, drawn the following saturday in hho members diary as we dont want it in an open section of the forum.

Sounds like a fab Idea, I originally didn't think I would enter as Charlie would be a nightmare to take anywhere but I now may be able to borrow a horse if needed!

When would the lessons be and what sort of area/location are they?

oh and they are all over the country....... I have a map

so we have I think divided them into areas so as to do an area at a time?? not sure on the last bit kitty will correct!

Also do members have to have been registered for a set amount of time or have a over a certain amount of posts?

we were talking about that.... cant remember what was decided in the end so kitty will have to confirm.

I think there will prob be reminder notices in the other areas, particulary at the start.... but also it will stay at the top of the page in members diary.

Hello! Wow just on the drive home from work!!

Right, you need to have over 200 posts or have someone 'known' vouch for you. What I especially don't want is unknown members taking the lessons - not posting pictures etc.

The lessons and photo write ups etc are hosted on the website in my signature - access to this website will only be granted once you have paid your lesson fee OR donated (on justgiving page on siggy)

I will aim to do weekly draws. On a Sat night.

EG

Wales regional thread.
Sat - Thread posted asking people who want to be in the draw, post.
Thread open for one week
Sat - draw names from a hat and post winners.

Thread will be in Member meets or whatever its called but I will post in the other forums annoucing its prescence.

I will be posting a list of the instructors/areas soon - so keep an eye out for this!!

what a fab idea!

I would deffo be interested in a lesson for a horseless person (or 2, me and my OH)!! Tootles off to look at website!!

QR - it's a fabulous idea, and very generous of you and the instructors to donate their time.

I'm sure you've carefully considered everything, but to me, £20 seems a bit too much of a bargain? As it's for charity, and people are giving up precious spare time, I would have thought more would willingly be donated? Or is it a minimum of £20 donation?

How much to view - I wouldn't enter (I'm far too novicey to waste someone's time!) but would be interested in reading the reports?

Also, I'm just learning web design myself (have created a basic website for my own race reports and for the race I'm organising in September) - if you need a hand with anything not-too-technical, I'd be happy to help out.

JenJ, as many of the 'instructors' don't normally teach, just passing on their superior knowledge as they are at a higher level than most of us! many felt they couldnt expect more than £20. no problems with anyone donating more though
grin.gif

Yeah the £20 fee was decided in the main by the Instructors themselves as they felt it was a fair fee for their time. Of course it is a minimum donation and if people want to give more, of course they are welcome to.
