An indoor school?

I have only ever been at one yard in my time with an indoor school, I did love the indoor school.
I do not often hear of or see yards with indoor schools round here, I think perhaps they are much rarer than your usual out door school, I could be wrong

Anyway, to the poll....

No and as soon as a yard near me opens that has one and a walker I will be there like a shot!!

Know what you mean. I do not do much really in the way of schooling per say, but indoors schools are great for lunging or even plodding about in when its rotten outside, I used to enjoy the one I used at my old yard

Yes, most of the yards I've been at had one (or two!).

Most of them 20x60 but some were 20x40 and one 30x70.

Here in Germany virtually all livery yards have indoor schools, even the really cheap ones! Maybe it's easier to get planning permission?

As far as I know it is easier to get planning in Germany as equestrianism is recognised and supported as a major income generator. Whereas in the UK although it's very easy to get planning for an agricultural building horses are considered a luxury.

No indoor here either.....

i have said yes, but ours is more an indoor exercise area. i.e okay for some bending/walk/trot but cant do any serious work in it as it has supporting pillers in the middle! its an old competiton yard and it used to be the warm up/collecting ring i think.

The last yard I was at had an indoor school but it was tiny, not really suitable for anything other than smallish ponies. I now have my ponies at home, i don't have one here but would still rather have my ponies at home with no school than back on a yard

Nope but our school (outdoor) thank goodness has an amazing surface and has been ridable even today after all that snow (the farmhand harrows it every day in the mornings to level it and that mixed up all the snow nicely so it didnt ball up in the horses feet too much

)

no sadly no indoor or outdoor i only get paddocks & stables for my rent, but a nice farmer has let me lunge in his large cattle shed in this foul weather you just have to hold ya nose as the cows only moved into the bigger shed the 2 days before the snow so it hasnt been emptyed yet (great for shock absorption, not so for smell & greys that love to roll!!!!)

I'd love an outdoor school, never mind an indoor....

My last yard had an indoor but it was only really available through the day, because YO gave lessons in it on an evening.

nope no indoor, would love one, but still trying to persuade dad that a walker would be indespensible and would work out cheaper in the long term

So could you not build a Dutch barn, make walls out of straw bales and then exercise in it ?

We have a small old one which is normally only used for dog agility and turn out but people are riding in it at the moment. When I'm at uni the stables are attached to the indoor school, bliss

Lots of us out there then then don't have them but would love to, funnily enough RobinHood it was at Aberystwyth University Equine stables that I had the indoor school all those years back, only yard where I have been and had one

(and 2 outdoors...)
One is maybe a little over normal 20x40m, the other is HUGE and usually used for showjumping
