the naming of my thread was an error - or over exaggeration - on my part, i will admit.
but it was in fact the issue of the stick that really made people slate me; i had reams of people shouting at me that i should have 'walked her in circles', 'reversed her so she couldnt see what she was doing', got off and led her and so on......so i am bemused as to the difference now!!!! because tonight, you guys have confirmed what I thought.....using a whip as a DISCREET whip subsititute is not unnacceptable, especially if it ensures well being and health of all involved parties!!!!

going back to op....(sorry if i have got you all muddled up and mistaken) the fluffy-bunny folk would argue that you shouldn`t be out on the road if not under control.
[a horse needs to `practise`roadwork to become good at it.and he can always be unpredictable.]
i have also heard f-b people say horses should ride around their own fields and not be on the road cos they dont pay tax.the majority of walkers think horseriders are snobs and feel looked down on.

most riders would be shocked by how they are percieved by unhorsey folk.

As for the Tranterer business, i thought we had established that, seeing as s/he and I seem to both be students, both ride mares, and both have some connection with chickens, then we MUST be the same person? striking similarities......why bring it up again?

Since you seem to be a little 'slow' on the uptake, let me state, once again, in as simpler way as possible....

I felt that my actions were justified, I said that all along, this wasn't a post questioning my actions, but asking what others would do in the same situation. I only stated the information regarding what happened this afternoon whilst out on my gelding, as if I'd opened questioning who smacks their horses or whatever I'd have gotten hung drawn and quartered for starting a 'contraversial' post.....I didn't even give a thought as to whether someone had posted a similar topic previously before the link was posted.....I didn't think I had to.

ah, at least we've got one thing straight then.
what i am confused about is that - if i am the tranterer - why, in a moment of madness, i seem to have decided that, by registering a different username with obvious similarities to my existing one, no one would figure me out. because surely, the reason for re-registering is to start afresh? why would i continue to post as MizElz if i had a new, clean slate to start from......

ah, it beats me. i must be losing me marbles then! ah well.

Depends on the situation really. I can't stand people hitting their horses for refusing to jump or if their horse is truely scared to pass anything then I'd consider it cruel.

But if the horse is just being down right dangerous and acting the maggot then a short, sharp reminder is needed rather then deading their sides by kicking. As long as it's not endless whacking then you cross the line into what I'd call cruel.
