Elderly? I thought you were about 16

[/ QUOTE ] Ah - that silky smooth complexion of hers fools everyone! She is actually 159, but hides it well!

Well done - 10/10 for correct quotation use.
And my silky smooth complexion...must be from avoiding sunlight...and wearing that balaclava helps

Write sentences? Is that with/without errors? I only ask because I know you have a proven interest in grammar. Would it help if I tell you I don't have a standard grade or A level?

I was positively supporting TGM's ability to use the 'quote' facility so kindly provided by the forum hosts...

I was simply comparing your apparent age to Shilasdair's proposed age of 16.......hence if S is 16 when she is actually 167 then you must be 18 months.........OK, no, never mind

Well I have A level English - I just hide it well

Oh - and biology, and history, and 2 post graduate diplomas, and my 10 metre swimming certificate AND my cycling proficiency test

I havnt a proven interest in grammar, i quit A-level English language half way through the first year as i decided being an ODP was more what i wanted to do.

Ripples well done you - glad you found somewhere to ride. It is a shame you are not nearer Bucks as the Bucks RDA is an AMAZING place.

And what is wrong with aiming for the top - nothing wrong with thinking about what you MAY achieve and the Paralympics are certainly within your grasp if you want it!

Well all I can say on the matter is WELL DONE Ripples. I think that shows tremendous strength and I know how devestated I would be if I had loss the use of any of my limbs and, amongst other things, could not ride. I hope you have a great time getting back in the saddle and best of luck.

On the subject of Shilisdair - only ever been helpful and polity to me so if in doubt at all try to give Shilisdair the benefit of the doubt as I am sure very few people mean to offend but we are all sensitive in different ways

Or should the question be ' of what is ODP an abbreviation?'

Thought they were threatening to go on strike because of their pay award not being backdated? So we should be able to talk how we want before too long?

Your post has brought such tears to my eyes.

How wonderful that you've finally found a suitable establishment for lessons. I'm so genuinely thrilled for you, I really am.

Can't wait to hear more updates.

Oh my god so much arguing in this thread!!

Please people, it's Christmas, be NICE to each other!!

Shilasdair, I personally don't think you have been offensive at all, you have asked some perfectly reasonable questions and judging from Ripples first outburst, she seems to get offended very quickly.

Ripples, I really would take the Paralympic comment for what it was meant to be - a little bit of fun and what seems like a very good idea if, after a few years, you feel more confident and up for it. It was a comment no different from someone saying to my mum, who rode for the first time in over 20 years just last week "so you entering the Olympics next year?" She wouldn't take offence - she'd probably laugh or, if that was her actual intention say "you know what, I might just do that!"

I'm not trying to enter into this argument / debate / discussion / whatever, I'm just trying to explain Shilasdair's comment as I read it and trying to spread some Christmas cheer about this place

*sprinkles Christmas fairy dust over you all*

operation department practitioner.......have i spelt it right?

Good for you...sounds like a useful career...so you'll need a specific qualification at HE for that, won't you? I take it that's why you're going to Uni?

I think Ripples took offence because she has been offended by this poster in the past, i dont think its so much what was said, more that she expects to be put down by this poster so takes anything they say as an insult.......

Yeah! These grammar police are overpaid in my opinion...and everyone knows a siren should go
'Nee naw nee naw', don't they?
