Why do you think I haven't been spending much time on here recently? He's scared me off and the threats were becoming too much to bear.

No, although I like to think you're wrong...you can spell it either way correctly. Now watch out or the grammar police will be after both of us....

of·fence n. - Chiefly British
Variant of offense.

Proceeds will be going to the MinkyMoo Pony Fund, which I hear is a frightfully good cause.

(Apologies for stepping in late, I had a poorly executed work email to attend to.)

Firstly, well done ripples, I'm sure you were not as bad as you thought you were
smile.gif
It takes a lot of courage to get back on board after a break, glad you enjoyed it, and keep it up

S, beating cars Basil Fawlty style is the way forward I think, I regularly do that after hurting my foot kicking my car, and if you can't contribute to glodal warming by driving, you may as well do it by breaking off a branch to hit the car with

Patches, Weezy, Miss Molly, thanks to you all. Great suggestion about the mechanical horse - sounds exactly like the sort of thing I need.

I have high hopes of gaining the same standard I had post RTA, I do realise that I won't be p2ping ever again,
grin.gif
but I do hope I manage to reach the dizzy heights of being good enough to consider novice dressage at least, again, even though I won't get the opportunity.

My reason for being so offended in this thread is, I hope, understandable.

Of course, I don't take offense from the vast majority of people. Simply because most have never offended me in the past, nor have they demonstrated offence to anyone else. However, I believe that Shilasdair has meant offence in the past - either to myself or others.

For me, being told "you'll be competing in the para-olympics (sp?) in no time" is absolutely a kind joke if said by anyone else, but said by someone who has, by their own admission, tried to cause offence before, makes it plainly unacceptable to me. I feel that it was at best - an example of complete insensitivity and at worse - said to highlight the fact that I will never reach a high standard.

The thread I keep mentioning, did indeed contain a post by Shilasdair that stated they were trying to cause offence and asked me how they were doing. I was careful to not respond to any of this person's posts in that thread (I wish I'd been more careful in this one).

To give a better idea of which thread I am referring to - it mentioned other users in the title. It was started several weeks ago - about the time I joined HHO. It was followed on by several others of a similar ilk - all critisising other HHO members. This particular thread ran to many pages, at least 17 IIRC. I remember Spiral and the_winter being the first respondents to my first post to the thread and the_winter correcting my use of offense.

Many thanks once again to all those who have encouraged me, advised and given great suggestions, but life is too short to allow others the opportunity to influence it so negatively, especially somewhere as superficial as the Internet.

I'll get my coat
smile.gif

Shame you feel like that. Well at least your brief time on here did help you in some form - you found Talland. Best of luck there and hope all works out well for you in life.

Bye bye.
smile.gif

Show us the thread, then.
You won't though, because if you are claiming I ever said I intended to offend you, you're lying.
And there was no such deleted thread....only the one you've already linked to, which says the opposite of what you claim above.
I think you are a troll.
If you are genuine, then I wish you well with your riding lessons etc.

Glad you enjoyed the lesson and I hope you are getting a bit less achey. How about a Heather Moffett seat saver to give you a bit more padding? I use one just to keep warm out on hacks but they are very comfortable. Here's the link HM seat saver

Well done for getting back on board after such a long break
smile.gif
That is no mean feat and you are bound to be sore
smile.gif
I hope you manage to continue in your lessons and riding but I do wonder why you state you won't get the opportunity to compete at Novice level again
confused.gif
I hope you don't mind me asking.
frown.gif

I am lucky enough to get to compete at a venue that holds para classes (and some competitors are on loan horses) so I just wondered what it was that you felt meant you'd never have the opportunity- aim high and persevere and I'm sure you can do it

Ripples - I know it's easy to say when you're not on the receiving end, but dont let comments made on here bother you. When I started out on here, I took EVERYTHING to heart, read meaning into things that had not been intended, and retorted to try and defend myself. As a result I got people's backs up, something which I have only recently learned to prevent! (I hope! :P) Now, I have had a couple of run ins / misunderstandings with Shilasdair, but I don't honestly think she wants to cause trouble, I just think she has rather a wicked sense of humour and has a naturally blunt manner! I know when you are discussing an issue close to your heart, it is easy to feel that people are not taking you seriously, but rise above it! Because when you are down, you become an even easier target!!!!

Congrats on getting back in the saddle btw!!!!!!!!!

I read that entire thread, obviously, and I have to say I do not remember any instance of Shilasdair saying she was trying to cause offence to you. S and I have not always seen eye to eye, but I have to say, I do not think she is the type to deliberately try to hurt somebody. Her comment in this thread, I believe was meant in a a light hearted and kind fashion.

Anyway, I think its great you've got back in the saddle and I wish you luck and enjoyment with your lessons
smile.gif

Good post MizELToe - the first post I made after joining HHO was slightly jumped on - it really put me off... I really read into what people said and I thought they were all telling me how stupid I was... but I have realised that none of it was meant like that - I was just more senstive then.

ETS: I don't think Shilasdair meant to offend you. She doesn't ever come across that way to me.

Hope you continue riding and enjoying it
smile.gif

I remember the thread ('negative members' I think?) and I agree, Sprial, that Shilasdair didn't at any point intent to cause offence. Ripples, I think you misunderstood what Shilasdair wrote in that post! Easily done on the internet, without body language etc.

smile.gif

[ QUOTE ]
Why was the thread deleted, as alleged? Anyone remember?

[/ QUOTE ]

It was quite an unpleasant thread on the whole ... but nothing to do with Ripples / Shilasdair, I'm sure.

No, no, no.
Ripples was never involved in the 'Negative members' thread...and I didn't really participate as it was a late night one...when I realised it was about specific members I went to bed!
There was no deleted thread....apart from Horse and Dog slaughter ones (the latter was me being naughty
