I spent my youth round the auctions, Beeston, Wrexham, Hereford market, and I understand the life well.
Coloured horses, palominos, anything very flashy, they always have made top prices and always will, there is an element of one upmanship amongst dealers at the sales, and often the price paid doesn't even reflect the animal's proper value, it's a case of who "wins" against their mates on the day.
I don't think anyone is saying all travellers neglect their horses, but many are incredibly rough with them, and a lot of their animals end up scared as a result.
As for their treatment of horses, I suggest you take a look at Applebey any sale time and tell me those horses being whipped and hammered up and down the road aren't being abused.
Being insulting to people who have perhaps never been to a sale isn't clever, there are enough of us on here who have made a living out of buying and selling to put any inconsistancies right.
I worked for one of the biggest at the time dealers in the North West. I bought and sold horses and ponies myself later in life when funds got short, using them in the riding school to ensure they were safe and saleable. Not all of us are what you would perhaps class as "Bunny huggers" !
If you go back through my posts you will see I said at the time that not all of the Amersham horse looked neglected, but after so many being rehabilitated and having top class care, I don't think they should end up back in a sale ring.
I think nothing should be moved until after the Court Case, then if the man is innocent the horses are rightfully his no matter what we think.
I doubt however he is, there had to be some neglect for the authorities to seize any horses at all, but until that's established in law, nothing should leave their present homes.
The judge sadly appears to know b* all about livestock, and has made a poor ruling, all we can do is hope he realises and changes his mind. (if legally that's possible)
Your defence of the decision makes me wonder how closely connected you are, I would bet a fortune that there are some of Mr Grey's friends or relatives on here observing what's being said..in the end all the majority of people are asking is for
time to see what happens at the court, and that doesn't seem to be impossible if the authorities make that decision.
