Amy Tryon

I just watched the video, HORRIBLE :[

She deserves to be euthanized, not the horse. If i was going to Burghley this year i would BOOOOOOOOO so loudly while she was doing her dressage test. She needs to be banned from having horses and competing for life.

What she did was unforgiveable, but what really compounded her crime in my eyes was her continued attempts to justify her actions and redeem herself.

If she had admitted the red mist got to her, as it has with other riders (although not to the same extent), then whilst still being disgusted by her, I think more people would have been able to put it behind them.

There was no admission of culpability, or any degree of contrition. That suggests she feels what she did was acceptable, and for that reason alone, this needs to be remembered.

The FEI is a bloody joke. It has become so political it has lost the way.

absolutely, GoneToFrance. if she'd said that she got carried away with the excitement of knowing she was about to keep her lead after the xc, that the adrenalin meant she didn't want to pull up, I'd accept it more. I've seen people do very odd things when running on adrenalin. her defence was indefensible.

every time i watch it, it shocks me to the core that a so-called horsewoman could do that to a horse (especially for so long, it's not as if it happened 3 strides from the jump, that would have been more excusable) and claim that she did not feel it. the poor poor lad. what an amazing horse to have jumped that fence safely on 3 legs, far more than she deserved.

i didn't realise that Robyn Fisher rode him at Rolex the year before and was jocked off, how devastating for her too.

It's a shame Burghley isn't being shown on BBC interactive on the saturday as I doubt even the hour's worth of xc coverage they'll show on the sunday will include her round, so those of us not there won't know how the crowd reacts!

At the time this happened when I first watched the clip I was "worried" that I wouldn't see what everyone was talking about. Like mentioned previously sometimes the riders are pulled up and off before anyone even notices anything is wrong.

When I watched it on YouTube for the first time I was at a friend's house with a mob of "un-horsey" peeps and after my gasps they watched it over my shoulder when it replayed and every single one of them seen LS's leg go and gasped at the same point. If they could all see it how the frig could AT not have felt it?!!?

Her punishment in no way fitted the crime, if anything that is even more sickening ditto owners sending/keeping horses to/with her.

I don't know why I just watched it again and if anything it's even worse than I remembered it. For the first time I noticed an offical with a red flag at the final fence walking away after she landed. WTF was the offical not waving that red flag? Am I missing something? If we can see the horse on 3 legs why didn't anyone there?

What a tragic waste of a life

Burghley's only ever been on the red button once on the saturday and that was last year I believe. Just the usual sunday 2hr slot this year

I have never seen that video before. I actually didnt even watch til the end, 2 strides was enough.

That was absolutely unforgivable, why on earth was she not banned for life. Is she utterly stupid.............. absolutely unbelievable

Nail on head!

Just watched the video again - well part of it, as I can't bring myself to watch the whole thing.

Perhaps those people who attend Burghley this year could do a silent protest?

If you are at a fence she jumps - turn your back.

and guys she didnt learn her lesson after the way she rode that poor horse in Hong Kong last year........i think she was trying to kill this one as well. Luckily he had the sense to dump her before she did kill it

she wouldn't even notice hard faced as she is there was silence as she finished her dressage at rolex this year and only a few cheers from the younger end following her sj round and in the presentation Le Samurai is in a nice place his ashes are above the water complex in the shade of the trees

[****] [****] [****]...have just watched it....words cannot describe what i am feeling....i have always thought that it might have happened two/three strides from the fence, she didn't have time to feel it exactly and was committed to the fence, and pulled up on landing. That horse was CRIPPLED for many many strides before and after the fence, coming back to trot quite a few times BEGGING to stop, and she kept kicking.

Words fail me.....god help that woman if i ever come across her in the future...i would rip her bloody head off.

OMG, just watched it for the first time - absolutely unforgiveable. I don't think I have ever been so disgusted by the actions of a supposed 'professional'

Had no idea the actual moment it happened was so sodding obvious - what in gods name were the FEI thinking? What makes it even worse is that the poor horse broke into trot 3 times making it pretty bleeding obvious there was a serious issue. I am sorry, but not even an adrenelin rush would make you gloss over that fact.

Also, shame on the officials, fence judge and infact spectators for standing by and watching the poor thing suffer -why the hell didn't someone pull her up?

What makes it even worse is when she finally decided to get her overinflated deriere off the horse she didn't even bother to look at the leg which the poor thing was holding out - she just stood there and waited for people to come over, that is NOT the actions of someone who is in any shape or form concerned about the welfare of their horse. Such a brave horse did not deserve to end his days like that, and certainly not with her.

Agree with amymay - she doesn't dererve any respect or acknowledgement at Burghley, shouldn't even be allowed to be competeing at such a level.... if at all.

God bless the horse she is on and hope it comes home safe (preferably having taken a route under a low hanging branch and depositing his rider)

Oops sorry, that got a bit long but this has really got my goat

If I remember rightly, spectators were heard to be shouting at her to pull up. (no sound on this computer)

I think we will all have your back - she is a hefty unit and clearly has no compassion..best not take any risks with just 2 of you!!

Might be being a bit cynical but I wonder what the reaction of governing bodies would have been if somebody behaved like that at lower levels? I wish I could say I'm surprised but TBH I have seen some pro riders do horrific things to their horses. IME it is about a 50/50 split between people who love their horses and those to who the horse is just a means to and end and competition is king. It disgusts me.
