So, yesterday was the day that I had dreaded for the past three weeks, and my beautiful girl was put down.

Instead of welcoming new life in to the world, I said good bye to my darling Amy May. I wasn't there to hold the string - selfish as it seems, I couldn't. So my good friend looked after her in her final moments.

Words can't describe what impact Amy had on my life - and how she will be missed. It's totally incomprehensible that she is no longer in my life.

Her last three weeks though were pretty good. She spent the time in the field with her mate, eating as much as she wanted, and getting a hard feed to boot. I said goodbye to her on Sunday night - bereft.

Amy was difficult, cantankerous and absolutely beautiful, and I will miss her more than words can say.

Sounds like she had a lovely few weeks, she really was beautiful. I'm sure you have lots of happy memories and I can't imagine how you must be feeling. You clearly loved her so much. Thinking of you x

So sorry for your loss
It looks like she was enjoying her last few weeks. I hope that will be a consolation to you in the future.

I am so so sorry Amy.She couldent have asked for a better owner in you!.And you put your girls welfare before your own heartache. In a daft sort of way you should be proud of yourself.RIP Amymay.Sweet dreams girl.

sorry to hear your sad news, its lovely that she had such a nice kind owner and lived her last weeks in style...RIP Amy May.

Sorry to hear this, It is better for a friend to stay with your horse if you are too upset to. As you say, she had someone she knew with her at the end which is all that matters.

Hope you cherish your good memories and forget the bad ones.
