Andy + Polocross= BAD IDEA! (Video)

Awww, look at Mr Andy, all excited. And a little bit scared of the nasty wasty ball :o

He's looking fabulous now and moving nicely too :D Once he's learnt to contain the excitement and channel it into something useful he's going to be stunning!

Why not do lots of practise at home with a ball, because he will get used to it? I have THE biggest girls blouse ever who managed to carry a bloody great bit flapping flag on the Common Ride, depsite the fact the first time he saw it he pulled the tie ring out the tree and bolted :o Weeks of practise later and he went hacking carrying it:D Get yourself some soft tennis balls and spend weeks chucking them at him, and school with a big stick in your hand. Then you could try again and see if he enjoys it more before giving up. It looks so much fun:D

P.s ignore the rude replies and don't let them rile you, then they'll go away.

Thank you :) I'm thinking he looks fab and would love to do it again but after battling with my nerves I don't want to knock them again. I think once I've had him a bit longer and once I'm used to him I might try it again and maybe look to do it properlly next year.

Great decision to pull him out after giving it a go :) Nice to see sensible heads on! I also think, though it is hard to tell, that he is looking a bit better weight wise, would be quite interesting to see a comparison photo now as he looks well.

Unfortunatly our camera is playing up a bit and all our photos from today are a bit blurred, I don't think it liked the light in the arena but will try and get some for a comparison but he is now at 390kg and has no rib showing :)

shame you still cannot see an underweight/unfit pony doing far more than it should ATT.
Unfit? Underweight? I'm sorry but have you seen this pony in real life? He was the only pony to not get a sweat up today and not once did his breathing get heavy. And I think you'll find he is a good weight.
I think you need to stop being so horrible and stop making assumptions!

alliagor 40 or whatever- just who do you think you are? How rude and un necessary. I'm sure you're incredibly brave and oppinionated sat behind your key boeard

She's not that bad, I'm having great fun replying to her :D

Although, sadly I think I should stop as it's not really fair to OP to hijack her post..

OP - what made you take up Polocrosse? I was just talking today about how I wish I had known more about it a few years ago, think my 15.3hh would have loved it, think he's a bit old at 20 to take it up now though!

well as long as that's all about me that's shocking! I won't get involved in a slagging match but karma is a b***h and being supportive and encouraging of others costs nothing... surely the point of this whole site?

alligator40 can you stop being judgemental and leave OP alone. TBH it has nothing to do with you. if she wanted your opinion. she would have asked for it. crawl back under your bridge now.

LOL

Of course, lets be supportive.
Even if it's detrimental.
Let's be supportive.
I don't think so, TBH.

We saw a display at YHL last year and we got talking to the people who held it and they happened to be our local club. So we gave them my email and we went to a taster session in September and loved it so badgered my mum to get me a stick and ball, we have a borrowed one atm.

We then got another email about the session today and signed up for it months ago :D

If your interested find out what your local club is, I found the people are very nice and polocrosse is so much cheaper then polo so suits us well :)

I don't understand why you are not taking any notice of my posts, you seem like a very ignorant person and I'm glad I don't know you in real life. Its people like you who give horse riders a bad name.

At least there is such a thing as spellcheck.

As far as I am aware, there is not yet a programme available which can change a poisonous and disagreeable character into one representing a pleasant human being.

:)

Love it. Indeed a small typing error after a glass of wine without my specs on makes me a dreadful speller- i can live with this!

Koko Andy looks great...your regime is obviously working and the fact that he is so full of himself is testament to that! What is his breeding...to whoever claims no horse should have high head carriage there are some horses that just have this head carriage genetically....there are at least 3 current tb sires that throw them like this....it is to do with their conformation! If you did want to try him again one thing a friend of mine does with ex racers to get them to settle with the balls is start with a football rolled in stick coarse mix and get them to play/follow and desensitise them to the ball!

Good to see you getting out and having fun with Andy. You rode him well, I think it's great to try new things. Loved the video - thanks for taking the time to share it with us :D

I have no idea about breeding as his passport says unknown. I've known him for 6 years now and he's always had his head high it's natural for him but we are working on getting it lower. Hopefully he starts calming down soon though :D

Thank you :) Its great fun to try new things even if they don't work out, I may try it again with him in a year or so once I know him a bit better :)

Lovley to see him looking so much better. Good luck with him in the future - we like seeing updates on him. Unfortunately, some people still can't stop the silly comments and judgements.

well done for giving it ago especially with that evil hoss eatin ball

as for all of the other tosh, If you have a serious issue with another members horse, is it not far more mannered to send your concerns via private mail!

I always question those who like to publicly make points, maybe to boost their own ego, rather than to be helpful to the OP!! but there we go this is my opinion :D

Is that me? Sorry :( I promise, I never normally do it, just need to get back to work - holidays make me all bored and mischievous.

Thank you. I should just ignore them really don't really need to justify myself :p

Yes no one warned us the ball ate horses  tbh I don't think he/she or whoever they are wants to be helpful just wants to be spiteful and obviously gets delight out of trolling. Its sad really.

It does look quite fun! Not something my little tb would allow i dont think though :(

You never know, Koko took to it very very well and we were all very suprised as he was spookier than Andy. :)

:D I love the 'spastic giraffe' trot! My mare does this when she's all in a tizz!
Polocross obviously isn't his thing though :P Scary-ass ball!

Andy looks heaps better now, obviously doing all the right things! You look great together too!

Love to see posts about Andy, please ignore 'the haters' and keep me updated, I think he's a smashing little horse :D

Hi, i seen your post before, when you got alot of critisisum when jumping! Were as okay he doesnt look to hot, how is he expected to put on weight - just like that - with winter grass? Wait till the spring grass comes through and heel be a different horse! Theres so much difference in him already since the last lot of photos! My friend had one like andy and he was thin, and she kept riding him hacking and stuff! And he did just fine! So just keep on what your doing! Its obvs not doing him any harm and just enjoy each other!!

One of the reasons we sent him home early was because we didn't want him stressing any weight off. But inbetween riding when we were stood talking or holding them he was so chilled he only got wound up when I picked the racquet up. I'm glad the difference is noticeable I think its really starting to show now and his coat also looks very healthy.

I think Andy's gorgeous and he's defo looking better. If you get fed up with him, you're welcome to send him over to me! :D

If I can get my act together and get out to some comps I just might get to meet him in the flesh!

I dont post that much and never post comments on other peoples horses but felt i had to comment on the OPs horse it was in a poor state in first photos, she was scolded for riding him.

He has improved a gret deal with every picture posted this horse i believe was a pony racer so is basically the same as an ex racehorse, watching the video the op posted today, i would say if you want to do polocrosse i would continue i have several horses who would freak at having a ball thrown at them i didnt think he was that bad, and we have all been caught out and fallen off.

I think also if he was pony racing unless i have the wrong horse if i have excuse me he will as all racing ponies and horses do have that high head carrige as muscle is developed under neck, would also like to say we have a few tbs my dad point to points, a couple loose alot of condition in winter and cannot put it on by feeding have have to be ridden to start putting on that muscle so i think you have done the right thing by riding him.

I would also not take too much notice of criticism from strangers, you have posted pictures so have nothing to hide about your horse , how much do you know about your harshest critics and how many pictures of their horses do they post.

Your boy is improving all the time i think people with no experience of tbs dont understand how they can loose condition, he is gaining muscle but to get his head carrige and schooling as some may be used to he wil take alot of work.

I think your riding is fine so i would just continue with whatever you want to do. What i would comment on is and i am crap with names Rhino asked for proof on the comment made by Alligator 40 i thinkis was with all standing martingales leading to back problems which Alligator 40 replied, Do you have no empathy, so not really an answer.
Just remenber take all comments in context as alot are mmm horse poo.

You have always been transparent in you postings and i hope your little horse continues to thrive.:)

Andy looks fantastic in white! Your very much like me Koko in they way if you want to try something you have a go. Well done!
