TBH my horses only ever get full clips, but then usually in reasonable work (ie showjumping and hunter trials or hunting)
Slightly less with this horse, but he has to be one of the hottest horses I have ever met!!
Both of mine have a hunter clip, one is in Light/medium work the other is in medium/heavy.
Charlie probably doesn't 'need' a hunter clip but I have OCD about getting lines straight, usually start of as a blanket but then give in and take it all off as the wonky lines drive me mad
I do normally do a full clip but having said that she's normally in competition work! I've just brought her back into work after her maternity leave so not fit yet so done a high trace until fit, then if she's doing enough work and competing will do a full clip later in the year otherwise will stick with the high trace.
Mine is in light and she got a high trace last year by someone who does very nice lines. Cant afford her again this year so me and my friend are borrowing some clippers so will try a high trace but may have to do a blanket if the lines end up being rubbish.
I have done a neck and bit of belly at the moment, but once blades return in sharper state I'll complete a trace clip. Tbh I don't think most horses work hard enough to need a full clip (much as I prefer them!).
Just to be different - Irish (neck, bib and over the shoulder to girth area)
T is hacked or schooled (flat, jumping or x-country) most days, goes hunting, competing and on beach & fun rides. First clip was a couple of weeks ago, too hairy not to be clipped, will probably get a blanket in a few weeks when he's hairier(still out naked at the moment to have left most of it on).
mine have a trace clip and spend the winter sj, dr and some hunting.
I never take the backs off mine as they are TB for a start and i think they have to be in serious work to warrent a full clip (only as they are TB's) and as i live on top of a mountain in Wales and its always FREEZING!!!!!
what's the difference between bib and belly and chaser.
my boy has a chaser and I would say he is in light work (schooling/hacking/sj 5-6 times a week)
my girl has a high trace. I think she is in medium work but its probably classed as light???
Have 1 lesson one week and 2 lessons the following week, she is ridden for at least an hour every day. I have one day a week off! at weekends we hack out for at least 1 1/2 hours with quite a few canters or schooling.
I go for a blanket clip for mine as i ride late after work or early before work when its still quite cold, so she gets to keep a nice warm covering on her back
just to make some of you guys feel better, my mare (my only no TB x thats built like a tank) was clipped before monmouth and has already had her second clip. All my boys are now clipped aswell
full and worked 6 x a week which will include a lesson and or show. I saw the light last year for the last clip when YO removed his legs - he is a gray and looked like he was sporting yellow stockings. Legs will still stay on till last clip though. I am sitting here still covered in fine gray hair from my first clip of the season!!

Noddy is in medium work and full clip. He is the sweatiest hottest pony I have ever come across. We have clipped him twice already - the first in August - and he will be clipped a third time next weekend.
The other one Welsh Sect B in light work isn't clipped. He is the total opposite to Noddy and even when he works quite hard he rarely breaks into a sweat, but he doesn't grow much coat either. He really hasn't a clue he is a native.
