Another HHO foal!

Congratulations to you and to Salty. How close to her due date was she? We’re on foal watch (official date is a week today) and I am finding it nerve wracking.

thanks everyone :)

Great news! Well done Salty, welcome to Hera, and well done to the home midwifery team for all the care that led up to this!

it's been a fascinating journey and Salty has been such a lovely mare to do it with, she's a very kind soul and has taken everything in her stride (except live cover, she wasn't too keen on that!) I'm pleased - now it's gone well - that we had her at home because it was a fabulous experience to see everything and be hands on when needed, fortunately only very minor unhooking of the sac from nose/legs and a bit of steering to the milk bar ;)

Congratulations. She's gorgeous. More pictures please :)

thanks - pics on the way!

she was 342 days so pretty much on target. I'd been on hourly checks for about a week because everyone said maidens don't always give you all the classic signs but stepped up to 30/40 mins 2 days ago when she waxed for the first time. It was nerve wracking I'd agree but also very exciting.

Really looking forward to following your story. So exciting. Who’s the daddy? I meant that as a proper question btw ?

Daddy is a local KWPN called Update. OH shoes him and lots of his babies and his temperament is super and the youngstock all seem like nice easy little horses, so it seemed like a good option for a bunch of novices! Plus the safety net of having the stud so close by in case things went weird.

vet check later this morning to makes sure she got her antibodies as Salty was running milk on and off yesterday afternoon. It's raining so only stable zoomies for now :)

Vet has been and checked both over. All good. She's had half an enema as no collostrum poop yet but it's on the way so no great concern. If the weather holds off then she can go out for a bit later on and start exercising her little legs. Just waiting on the IgG now. She's a sassy madam and yes, Salty is proud as punch, she can't take her eyes off her (but she was happy to let us poke and prod cos she's a polite girlie).

How is Salty bred? She looks a bit Welsh?
Hann x generic sports horse so no welsh that i know of, it's probably just rubbed off from the extremely welsh Kira!
this is her dam, no recorded breeding in her passport and i did get hold of the breeder at one point but she didn't give me any more information. Sire is Pik Polo.
