Already posted in the common room but hoping i get more responses here.
Yesterday a livery at my yard called to say my horse had ripped her horse's rug on sunday. She now expects me to buy her a new rug because it's completely shredded (my horse apparently bit the rug as they galloped around so not entirely convinced it's not repairable..)
My problem is, I don't have £100 lying around. She claims she's skint (been on 6 month sick leave because of her back but she can still muck out and ride..) but I'm at college and don't have a job. I'm paying for my horse out of my savings and being very careful about money.
Also, the ripped rug was given to her from a friend. Should i be replacing it with a brand new one?
Lastly.. Not sure why she waited 3 days to tell me about it. The groom that really disrespects me was whispering to her during the phonecall so thinking she convinced her to ask me?
WWYD?
- just buy her a new rug
- offer to contribute half
Any other suggestions?
I understand I have to be responsible for my horse but I wasn't there, I don't know exactly what happened or the extent of the damage. She chose to turn my horse out with hers and while they get on fine, I never asked her to so doesn't she take some responsibility for it?
I've offered her my HW combo which is only a couple of months old but apparently it's too big. She says she needs a new rug asap because her horse can't go out. I don't know what to do!
