16 days in and Charlie boy is still being a star. He's not needed sedating since day 1!!
His leg is doing well but still looks pretty gross. There was a lot of proud flesh so the vet cut that away today *vomit* I'm now changing the dressing between vet visits and the practice have reduced the bandaging supplies right down in price to match what I have found them for online, I really can't complain about how good they have been!
This was from day 10
And these where from today
There was a lot of granulation so that was cut away today
It looks gross but Charlie didn't seem to mind at all, think it must have just tickled him as his lip was going as if he was being scratched!
At least there's a good blood supply
On the Jakey cat front, well, what a 'lucky' cat!! He was in a very bad way for a while, the vet recommended PTS which my mum agreed to as he was completely paralyzed and had no control over anything! I asked if we could give him a few more hours and thankfully during that time he made a slight improvement so the vet agreed to keep him going for anther 24 hours....then another 24 hours...then another 24 hours.
It was literally a case of taking it a day at a time for days, during which time he made daily improvements. He is still not 'right' but he is home and seems happy enough in himself. He came home on 3 legs with a warning from the vet that the 4th may need amputating but since being home he has been using it and is getting around OK. He has however lost his hearing which is a real shame but at least he is still 'here'!
All good news.....Charlie is looking like it is all going in the right direction. It's still some hell of a wound though! Lucky lucky cat........down to 8 lives now then? x
They are using Intrasite on the wound but he think it will only need one more application of that and then should be fine with nothing on it. I've got some Aloe vera gel to use so once we've stopped the intrasite I'll go with that
Poor guy, looks really nasty. It just have given you a fright! Wishing him a speedy recovery. Iv seen pictures on this forum of similarly horrific looking injuries where horses have made a full recovery with minimal scarring. Any idea what caused the injury? (Sorry of you've already said, I haven't read all replies!)
