Glad to hear he is a lot better and it was just an infection, good luck with your op, make sure you do exactly as they tell you for recovery, I was back riding by 12 weeks and was poo picking etc well before that but maybe started too soon so be careful .. it makes such a difference to daily life once you have recovered , it was so nice to be able to sleep without that pain

Hopefully a final update . I had my first walk into the garden today and sat on my bench ( next to foal field ) . Rocky started messing about in the field when is mum told him off and started doing laps at full gallop and properly using his backend , doing full on handstand bucks .
Couldn’t be happier right now .

Thank you all so much for your kind wishes and positive vibes x

I was following along here hoping little rocky would come right. I’ve taken my oldie in today with very similar presentation, did the vet come to the bottom of it for you?

Sorry to hear about your oldie .
The vets are all in agreement that it was a virus . Purely because that’s what the blood results showed . A friend of mine had a very similar experience with one of her ridden horses too . Hers pulled through much quicker as he was older and stronger .
It took 2 different antibiotics to get on top of Rockys illness .
The vets just said they see it every year and rarely get to the bottom of it .
Hope your oldie pulls through quickly x
