Grrr I am!!

None of my family are horsey at all, and whilst they let me get on with things and don't interfere too much with things, they have little digs at me, not on purpose, but because they don't understand.

Take tonight, I have been feeling like death warmed up all day but went to uni all day from 9am till 2:30pm. Headed over to the yard to bring in Ebony (my share horse)

and hold her to be clipped, mucked out etc, and got home at just gone 6pm.

Parents asked why did I go to the yard if I wasn't feeling well. [:(!] I turned round and said well she's not going to muck out her own stable, make her feed, stand still by herself for clipping and put herself to bed is she?! Wasn't in the mood to argue but they still don't understand why I didn't come straight home from uni...

Horses are banned from conversation at the dinner table.

I always get told I smell of horse, well maybe I like to smell of horse...

I got asked if I would return my brand spanking new riding boots (ahhh they are sooo nice) that I chose for Christmas and have singing lessons instead, because apparently I have a nice voice

Please tell me I'm not the only person who gets this at home, it's beginning to drive me stir crazy

My mum likes horses but doesnt really know what shes on about
smile.gif
But no one understands what takes me so long down there, or why Im tired when I get back etc etc. Maybe Il swap and they can go down the stables every day and then they will realise!
grin.gif

Im the only horsey one in my family too and ive gone on to work with them!
no-one else is remotely interested in riding etc but over the years of having to listen to me rambling on etc my mum has built up quite a good knowledge of all things horsey even though she has never so much as sat on a horse! She can even go out and feed sid now if i really need her to. But mostly she prefers giving him polos etc and patting him!

Only horsey person in the family. . .brother can ride and my dad did ride. . .my mum is pretty worried around horses but flint is an acception luckily. . .but its hard to try and talk to them about it as they dont understand. . .but they put up with me

I'm the only horsey one too, my dad seems rather afraid of horses but after 20+ years of my rabbiting on about them, my mum now takes an interest (although she still has no idea what I'm talking about). She has even taken to buying the horse treats from Lidl - that's what I call progress!

My mum is kind of horsey but only really because I have my 4 at there farm, dad hates horses, thinks there dangrous(sp!) My problem comes with my HO He's not horsey at all, can not understand why I do it and why I spend all my time and money on them. I'm late for EVERYTHING!!! Which is usually because i've spent to long messing about at the stables which drives him mad! But hey, he'l never know what it's like to own a horse..he is missing out!!

Ggrr yes it drives me mad aswell!
my mum constantly moans about how much i smell of horses
wink.gif

and how i can possibly spend so long down there!
drives me insane!
always get the "if you spend anymore time down the yard you'l turn into a horse" comment!

Yep - but not only that my Mum is severely allergic!

One of the most frustrating things is achieving something new and not having your Mum there to see it
frown.gif

It has lead to many embaressing total strips at our front door though hehe

I was the only horse mad person in my family but no one ever made me feel bad about it. In fact my Mum used to walk with me to the riding school for my weekly lesson. No one in our family could drive. Bear in mind this was ahem some time ago. I am now married to a horsey husband and we have 3 neddies.

You not on your own, my hubby started off saying how he would love to learn to ride so I bought another horse for him only for me to end up doing everything and he is now not bothered about riding or putting the time in! Men, typical!

One of my younger cousins(and R's godmother) is Ruby Walsh's cousin too, apart from that my family has NO horse connections at all.
Some put up with the horse obcession but I am more then used to seeing their eyes glaze over at the mention of "the H word"
grin.gif

Mines wierd, I am not the only horsey person, but I am the only seriously horsey one. My sister is quite into it but doesn;t mind missing it now and again (I DIE if I don't ride!)
Mum n dad used to ride but now they therefore think thye know everything about EVERYTHING! dad thinks he can be the frikin horse whisperer and tell me everything I am doing wrong (nothing positive) and mum sits there and sucks up to the teacher then repeats it over and over and over to me! Its like OMG I HEARD IT WHEN HE SAID IT!!!!!!!
Also for xmas etc, its like what do you want? new reins, new numnah, lots of horsey stuff...... and its like well what else that we might actually get you?
Im like AAAAAAARRRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!

ahh that was a nice rant, thank you
grin.gif

I'm the only horsey person in my family and when I was younger I got moaned at all the time! Once I left home and as soon as I got a proper job I went out and bought a 2nd horse so my family finally realised it wasnt a passing phase! My parents now really enjoy coming and watching me at shows now
smile.gif

Me!!!

As close as anyone got was my Maternal Grandfather going to the Bookies and my Dad being a Butchers Delivery Boy....

i'm convinced folk are BORN with Horse Sense rather than it in the blood......either you have it..or you don't.

Yep I'm the only horsey one.
Why do you go to your horse every day cant someone else do it?
I discovered by chance the other day (my mum let it slip while discussing what a cantankerous old G@t my dad is turning into) the he is absolutly fuming on how much money I 'waste' keeping a horse and having it shod and on vets.

I am too, although my 11 yr old neice does ride a bit, they all humour me and in actual fact I think my family are quite attached to George, they always ask after him, although they are probably bored when I tell them all the details!

Both parents are seriously unhorsey
smile.gif
though they do like to see merlin (from a distance) about once a year!!!

As a kid my brothers were both unhorsey as well
frown.gif

Now though, my daughters are both very interested, though the OH is as bored as can be hearing the three of us talking about it!!!

We have horses that is me (mum & daughter) funniest thing was when we sold daughters first pony 12'2 together with all his things, saddle rugs etc & my mum (daughters grandma) said couldn't I use the rugs on my current horses? 14h & 15'2 please...............

I'm the only one too. My mum did think it would be a passing phase, however 14 years, 3 loan horses and finally onto owning my own she has got the message, Horses are here to stay!
OH isn't particularly horsey, his sister and dad ride and he did a little when he was younger as he grew up he hated the arguments the horses caused in his family, then he met me and has has to deal with the fact my horse is my everything pretty much! He is great though, we have have made it a joint activity to sort her out in the evenings now. Still can't drag him to a show with me though.

Me, i'm the only horsey person in my family... no idea what happened to me!

My parents also thought it was a passing phase, doesn't seem to be the case though seeing as i'm now in my 20's!

im the only one too!my parents are very northern workin class and think riding is for posh ppl. it took me years to just get lessons.when i finally got riding lessons as a kid my brother joined in for afew months but he soon got bored... when i was 14 my dad realised i wasnt gonna give up with the talk of ponies and i got my first one
laugh.gif
, my dad built me my own stable and tack room and feed room and she was kept at home. keeping a difficult mare as your first pony at home at 14 with no support network was deffinatly an experience!
cool.gif
im now in my second year of an equine sport science degree and my parents still think its a phase im gonna grow out of
frown.gif
i get the impression they still think the equine world is above me and that i should stop mixing with the rich people!

Yes and me.
My parents were very good about taking me to riding lessons when I was a child, but I was never allowed my own horse. I think my mother hoped it was a passing phase, although my father took a bit more interest. My Father's aunt once told my parents off for letting me go riding because horse riding was for royalty and titled people, not the likes of us!

My OH is also unhorsey but he is very understanding about the time I spend with my horse. His interest even goes as far as feeding him a carrot on his rare visits to the yard.

I'm the only horsey person in my family too. My hubby is understanding (most of the time), but occasionally has a moan about the cost. My kids are so not interested. My mum is scared of them, but if either of mine needs anything she immediately offers to buy them it!!! I think she feels a bit guilty because my dad wouldn't let me have a pony when I was young!
smile.gif

i am haha,My mum isnt over keen on horses and doesnt do the 'muddy boots' lark haha, luckily though i have a very supportive grandad who bought me my horses,he lied horses and would have loved to ride but had a accident
frown.gif
so he says hes 'living the horsey life through me' he doesnt have anything to do with horses tho but is learning to rug up and likes taking dougal for walks
