Anyone clipping yet?

Went on a sponsored ride yesterday and one of our groups little dressage pony was already clipped out. To be honest I'm ready to clip mine. He is shedding hair and sweating up no end at the moment. Was holding out till October but I'm ready when I organise it really :)

The horse that i share and the owners other horse both got clipped at the end of last week as we were doing Kirtlington Sponsored ride this weekend and they've both been getting so hot and sweaty when we've been doing just normal rides, but yesterday they were fine

I would be clipping my Welsh C soon if it weren't for the fact the battery pack for my clippers has finally given up on life. But because it has I have to try and find £80 odd quid to spare for a new one, that's going to be fun.

I've clipped my Connemara. I did a bib clip first but he was still sweating buckets so fully clipped him.

The other hunter has only just started moulting so he will probably be clipped later this week.

Me? Clip? Nooooo, course not...

Even the Daemon-brat's been clipped this weekend :p

I havent yet, but after 2 short showing classes yesterday, the ginger beast was dripping and very uncomfortable. He has a week off now while I sort his saddle so I am hoing the temp drops a little so I can wait a bit longer.

We've been clipping for the last three weeks as they were getting sweaty whenever they were worked. I don't usually clip this early but needs must

I'm holding off clipping my welsh as have a show this weekend. But she will no doubt be done soon after
I do think coats are coming through more than last year :(

I am loving his mane!! He is such a dude!!! I hoping mine can hold out another 2 weeks as he is still living out so dont want to have to properly rug until he can come in! We give our boxes up to some very smart event horses while a local BE is running so would seem pointless to clip him bring him in then chuck him back out for a few nights! May as well do it all at once when the eventers have been!!

No but bought some new clippers at the weekend and the following day was the first my horse has sweated up while hacking so it won't be long now...

My main dilemma will be whether to leave it at a small clip or whether to hog him and take his feathers off, which will be popular with none of his fan club but is very tempting, especially once the mud arrives.

Two of mine have been done, the retired warm blood who is fat and needs to loses some weight so lost the nice warm coat she as growing.

And the elephant who is just in walk work but was sweating up doing that.

Yep, i did mine 26th August the hair wasnt too bad but she looked un tidy and we had a photo shoot so it came off, now needs doing again this week because we are at residential camp for 3 days this weekend so she'll be un comfortable with a lot of work! yesterday just cantering in the field resulted in a white foamy mess!!

Will be arranging for mine to be done next week or thereabouts. A little early for her as she hasn't developed much coat at all, but I am due to give birth in three weeks so will be a little impossible come October to try and fit everything in (so to speak) so my instructor is going to give a helping hand and hold her whilst being clipped this year - I can't say I fancy grappling a 16.3 whilst being the size of an elephant myself!

Have done all three of ours now, it is so warm here at the moment, their coats are getting thicker, they are doing quite a bit of fast work, and the boys are both doing a BE Novice next week, so it had to be done!

Nope! And I refuse to clip before Oct 1st! I don't care what the racehorses look like I ain't doing it! Nope! Nuh uh! No way! When you do over 200 clips a season you get to dictate when you start lol!

Even though ours are all out 24/7 until the cold weather moves in, none of them have much of a coat yet. I am only just seeing the first signs now. So none have been clipped yet. My late mare would always get her first clip mid September though as she was always the first to start growing her winter woollies.

Does hogging count ?

Hippocob is still confused as to whether it's Summer or Winter - I think we've got a few weeks left before the inevitable happens.

Did mine (blanket clip) last weekend with a 1mm blade. This weekend she was already furrier (again) than almost all of the other horses on the yard. I have a feeling my clippers are going to get some use this year!

Did mine a fortnight ago and he's mega hairy again already - I'll probably need to clip again in two or three weeks. He really doesn't tolerate being too hot when ridden; regular clipping and faffing around with rugs is far preferable to sitting on a head-throwing, crabbing, quarters-swinging, grumpy unhappy beastie fifteen minutes into a schooling session.

Mine's booked in for Saturday - he's been sweating up a bit even on light hacks for a week or so now, but yesterday he got so hot and his girth was dripping. He's a wannabe Shetland but I'm not having it - it'd all come off if I had the guts to sit the exuberant bucks afterwards! As it is we'll do a chaser and see how it goes :)
