We were out about 3 and a half hours. I ride out 4 times per week for between an hour and three hours, but today was trickier terrain than usual, and mostly walking with a few canters. My knees now feel like they have done a lot of work.

Yes - 2 x fab rides yesterday and today on the South Downs with my young horse, great education for them...............I love my new home!!

Roll on next weekend ( BH ), and lets hope the weather is kind to us.

Sounds like a fab way to spend a sunny sunday :)

I usually only hack for about an hour as still increasing fitness of both of them and just getting over behavioural problems with one as well. Our hacking is all lanes so even if they were fitter I think I would lose the will to live if I hacked for that long :o

I did take them both out for a nice hack though, went with a friend on my old fella so it was nice to have a catch up and then took my new (used to be nappy and explosive) mare out for a quick hack where she behaved almost perfectly. I then felt the urge to canter her round my field (haven't been able to since September due to her behaviour) and she was brilliant (albeit a bit green and wobbly), no trying to kill me which is always a bonus :D

Really enjoying both my horses at the moment :D

We're dead lucky here - lots of beech woods with bluebells and garlic - absolutely magical!! I want, very much, one day to do the ride across Wales that takes 5 days and ends on Borth beach. This wonderful scenery and weather has made the winter worthwhile. I love my horsey too!

ooo the south downs would love to be hacking round there, but no hacking today for me, ponio had her teeth done this week and 2 wolf teeth removed so no riding till weds at earliest then i am away from sun till sat so be a while before we do much. we did go for a lovely walk in hand for an hr yesterday and today though-she is amazing in hand will go anywhere i ask so trusting. she is still adjusting to giving me that trust under saddle but it is coming:)

Had a lovely long ride on the boy up a place that's called Holcombe Hill where i stable, to get to it you go through a small wood, up a old roman cobbled road and then you climb a very step hill to the top where there is a tower called Peel Tower.

Set off and with it being a pleasant day (at last) lots of walkers, dogs and bikers, not a problem, the boy does not mind and is quite happy to stop and say hello. Up the very very steep hill to the top, boy is puffing, blowing and grunting like an old man (or is that me??) and we reach the top to find that there is a sponsored abseil going on down the tower, lots of people, a bouncy castle and a burger van.

Boy just wants to stop and say hello to everyone (and nick a few burgers if he could) and we sit and watch people abseil down the tower, not a flicker off him. We then set off down the sloping paths and go past the disabled riding school were they are just coming back from a lead rein hack, lots of tiny tots on little ponies, boy wants to say hello to them all.

Back down the roman road and then a canter through the wood, over the stream and home. Fab ride, boy is chilled and i am a happy bunny.

wow that looks just amazing

Stop it, the lot of you! Rode both yesterday; old faithful was her usual self, but the ginger ninja has lost all her solo hacking confidence. Luckily she threw a paddy outside my house, which my husband heard, and he escorted us on foot the rest of the way round.
Today I've been at work and am now on call, so no riding. It is so nice to see the sun though.

So jealous of everyone! My boy is too nappy to go out by himself :( Thought he'd got better but today was back to square one :( Love the pic Mahoganybay :)

No epic adventure today - just had a fabulous hour out this morning - massive confidence boost after a nasty fall & trip to A&E the other week. X

Sounds lovely!! No I didn't. Pouring with rain all day today. We are delighted as my fields have big cracks it has been dry for so long.

Maybe we should all go together :D

sounds like a fab idea, i shall warn you now organising is not my strong point, tell me how much when and where and i will do my best to get us there, maybe it could be a sponsored thing. i have an organising type friend i shall speak to her

Take a look at the Your Horse Adventures thingy - all the prices are on there - and see what you think.

looks great i make it about £650 if you have packed lunch each day and transport back to start if 3 of you go with no guide

transport there and back from home would be the expensive bit

Yes - it was the transport there and back that made me think it would be close on £1000. Have a good think about it and PM me if you like

My new yard goes straight up on the South Downs way.

Have say I am so lucky that I have a horse who hacks anywhere and I have all this to explore.

Going out Tomo, I just had a bareback play about tonight :)

I'm still psyching myself up for a long hack - pony is very good, just a little bit jumpy occasionally but NEVER naps - my worry is other people!

He is stabled on a busy commuter road (30mph but most do 40) opposite a housing estate. So far we have gone for 20-30minutes around the housing estate with no issues, but I'm desperate to get into to woods which is about 2 miles down the busy commuter road...it's a scary thought!! x
