Does anybody remember Bathway Farms as well as Judy Millar and Ted Fischer?

Does anyone know why Judy Millar died in 1982 and why Ted Fisher died in 1990? I can't find anyone who knows. They were at Bathway Farm, Chewton,Mendip, Somerset. I'd really appreciate anyone who remembers them to let me know either here or lindamutch6002@gmail.com. Judy was my Mom's first cousin. Thank you!

I totally remember you and Stimpy! I rode whitewash and then bough Squiggle (I was about 12 and was there all the time!) Alex and mark used to try to throw me on the muck heap most days! I then had a horse Honey and did lots of show jumping and cross country. I'm just looking at getting back into riding and hoping to find someone looking for a helping hand at the yard in return for a few lessons to get me back into it!

So I’ve only just seen this reply 5 years later ? I totally remember you and squiggle - I looked after squiggle once when you were on holiday. And you also had sunset on loan for a while didn’t you? I remember honey too, that must have been the year before stimpy and I left. Such lovely times. I kept stimpy until he died only last year aged 28. The end of an era. I still ride though - have two horses and three children who are just starting!

Wow, I started this thread 5 years ago! Great it's been unearthed!

I went to school with Alex (Periwinkle). I remember Dagmar too. I'm only in Bristol now, so not too far away. Would love to go for a nostalgic ride round Dyrham Park again. It used to seem huge, and the gallops would go on forever!

Before I owned Keegan (bag of bones but one heck of a fun pony to ride) and Wolf, I remember riding Larkin, Nimbus, Chianti, Bluey (who bucked me off), Topaz, Prism, Lord (no hair on his tail), Misty and Pinky. I was bitten on the thigh by Oliver and my husband (then boyfriend) had to defend himself by rolling a blue barrel at Kipper when he was advancing on him at speed while we were turning Keegan out!

I also remember Velvet with one eye, who belonged to Joyce!

I must have been riding at Dyrham from 1976-1990 or so. I remember Carole Stokes and her daughter Alex and son Ben. I think Ben was heavily into polo??

Before buying my own, I used to ride their horses: Larkin, Nimbus, Chianti, Periwinkle (who used to belong to my friend), Prism ...... oh, and although I didn't ride her, there was an ancient pony there called Velvet who only had one eye and Carole gave her to her equally ancient helper (no-one ever quite knew her actual role) called Joyce. She was a sweet old lady, yet very grumpy, especially when my pony backed into her (also ancient) Triumph Herald and the rusty bumper fell off.

I used to take jumping lessons with Helen too. They were crazy, and someone almost always fell off!

I owned a pony called Keegan who used to belong to Carole, and later a youngster called Wolf. My name is Jill if anyone remembers me???

I worked at Dyreham Stables & Hinton Stables c70-81.My name was Pauline Adams then, nickname Grizz. I mostly rode Amber, Shah & Larkin. I remember all the horses. Peri used to belong to girl called Jas. I used to leaad the pub rides and all off to The Bull afterwards!

Seeing as how there are quite a few nostalgia threads around at the moment, I was wondering whether anyone out there remembered riding at Dyrham Stables in the late 70's/early 80's when they were at Dyrham Park (they moved over to Hinton eventually) .... ?

They were beautiful, huge stables in a cobbled yard right at the back of Dyrham House, and we used to ride up into the park daily amongst the deer. It was a riding school at the time with only a handful of liveries, but not your average riding school .... the rides were fabulous and very fast, and there were some lovely horses and ponies there! I could name some of them to this day

Then the business grew and the YO's had a brand new livery yard built over in Hinton (which is now the Dressage yard under new ownership). I had a couple of horses at livery there, and we were still able to hack over to Dyrham Park, and around the neighbouring villages which, at the time, were tiny with almost no traffic.
