Colorado is still 22 degrees during the day and sunny! But, the snow is no doubt on its way. I'd take the snow and cold any day over the rain and grey, at least it's nearly always bright and sunny which makes such a difference.

Never thought I'd leave the UK until I did, and now can't imagine going back and a lot of that is to do with the weather.
Agree would rather cold and sun which, apart from last year, is what we get back home. Except. I really despise -30° Equally I struggle with the dark and grey here....

If we were younger we would go to either Canada (BC for choice) or New Zealand. Climate in both those places seems more structured, if you follow.
BC on average gets more rain than the UK. Calgary is stupidly cold, -50 at times, the rest of the prairies is also bitterly cold, Ontario is no better down into the -20s and -30s with winds....Quebec the same. East coast gets hit big time with storms. You can't really win in Canada in the winter IMO!!

Madrid can get much colder than the UK in winter. It's very high up and can get to freezing at night .

They did have some some unseasonably warm weather in March this year but it was cold when I visited late March.

Summer it goes to the other extreme and can be over 40 in August

Spain is bigger as well so the interior can be extreme hot and cold. You need to be further south and on the coast for year round warmth though don't expect to be in the sea all year round.

Ah ok…but the general gist.
Seville in February for a month

£1100

Why bother with the hassle of having your own place in the Sun.

In Spain when it rains, it really rains. I remember being caught out one time and even my knickers needed wringing out. Then it goes back to warm and sunny in the south or in the centre cold and sunny.

Whereas it's seemed constantly damp here at the moment.
We have a house in Fuerteventura and although it hardly ever rains when it does its normally really bad.

Come to the Adelaide HILLS! but make sure your near an indoor arena; because our weather is pretty much like yours. :) in the winter is -0C and sideways sleet. In the summer its 40c+ but in the Spring and Autumn, its lovely.

You really do need regular access to an indoor to keep a horse in regular work here, but we don't have that many.

So....where in the world still has a temperate climate, no extremes of anything 😂 does it exist? ☺

Actually @Pinkvboots mentioned Fuerteventura and the Canaries generally are a good option. Subtropical islands off the coast of Africa, no extremes of heat and warm winters but a European vibe and part of Spain.

Just pick your island carefully to avoid active volcanoes.

I really love the Canaries climate its hot but windy so you don't sweat like you do in the Mediterranean countries.

You regularly get all 4 seasons in one day in NZ. Depends on where in NZ too.
I lived in Wellington, so SUPER windy and rained as much as it does here. One winter a couple of years ago I swear it rained sideways everyday for 3 months straight. It was awful!
I don't think there is a perfect place but at least when it was grey in NZ it still looked pretty! I forgot how grey and gloomy the UK can be.

South Africa has one of the most temperate climates on the globe, especially the Eastern Cape parts. Our show season here is all year, we only really break a few weeks over Christmas. I have NEVER had to groom mud off a horse in my life 😁

I can honestly say if I hadn't been diagnosed with a degenerative lung condition that gives me a life expectancy of three to seven years I would be leaving this country. it's a mess here, nothing much to stay for other than family, my parents are 90 years old and although extremely healthy and living independently, they are not getting any younger. i Keep telling my 25 year old son to think about leaving and he would love to go but his partner is reluctant. This country is dire and not just the weather!!!!

It's taken many, many years to finally get back down to Cornwall and I'm never moving away again! It rarely gets over 25 in the summer, nor below -1 in the winter, with more sunshine than many parts of the UK. We have beaches and moors to ride on, and the most wonderful network of bridleways and off road tracks and byways. We do have to share it with tourists in the summer but that's only because it's so beautiful. And it's not hard to find quiet spots that the visitors somehow don't reach. Yes, we're cut off from the rest of the country but that's largely the appeal for me these days.

I've lived in Germany, the Netherlands and in six widely different areas of the US and none of them were even close to perfect, weather-wise. Nor in any way really. Some of them a long way from perfect.

So nope. I'm staying put!

Interesting to read the votes for Cornwall. A friend moved to Cornwall from Bedfordshire with her horse. She lasted 7 years but couldn't stand the relentless rain. 5 years ago she moved from Cornwall to Norfolk which is reportedly the driest and sunniest county. She much prefers Norfolk.

It's been many years since I was there but overall I found it hotter in the summer and colder in the winter. In many other regards it was rather similar to the UK.

Fair comment about the rain! Though I find, for me, the compensations outweigh it.

Much as I love England, I have to say that the Canary Islands appeal to me for the winter months. Would definitely be up for decamping there from say... September to end of March.
I do happen to have an EU passport as well - not sure if that would entitle hubby to come with me for winter? If not, we could FaceTime I suppose ;)

Late to this one, but nope, it's a bonkers island (I'm in Scotland so...), but it's my bonkers island 😁

Yes the weather can be, um, testing, and various things are a bit wonky, but it's no worse than so many other places and in so many ways is better.

The rain can indeed get waring, however there's not way on this green (and sometimes brown...) earth that I'd want to be somewhere that's just dry and mono-climate. I love the variety. And with a livery yard I have had a few days of wondering why on earth I do it, but far more enjoying it 😍
