are there any gloves out there that are warm for the winter months but aren't too thick so you cant do buckles up put bridles on ect ?

I wear cheap fingerless gloves over my normal thin riding gloves :) keeps hands toasty and fingers free for finer feeling.

i just got macwets, much warmer than my rockeis (sp) and great for riding and yard work! highly recommended..so far!

I'm a bit of a cheapskate - Tesco do a nice soft fleece pair for £1.49 in a great range of colours. Light enough to ride in, thin enough to do up buckles, washable and cheap enough for you not to panic if you lose them.

I have worn Barbour green knitted fingerless mittens for many years. Never wear any other gloves. They are warm and you can do every fiddley job without taking them off.

I love sealskins gloves, they're so warm and have the added bonus if being waterproof - they have a range of horsey gloves, their winter ones are fab but are bulky so wouldn't be suitable if you're after something a bit thinner - maybe have a look at their range on the website at some of their others? I've just treated myself to the competition gloves (not too thick, but warm and grippy!) which I'm really loving so far x

Ariat tech grip insulated are fab. I ride with double reins and these are the only ones I've found that aren't too bulky but are still warm

Silk glove liners - I get mine from decathlon.

I wear them on their own if I need to be able to feel, or use a touchscreen mobile. If I need extra warmth or waterproofness then I put another pair over the top. The silk liners are so thin that you don't notice them but they add so much warmth. The best thing though is that you can take your bulky out gloves off and not expose bare fingers to the cold. I can wear them comfortably under normal riding gloves and they make my normal gloves much warmer.

They are cheap and washable too which is much more practical than buying several different "weights" of expensive gloves.

Agree! These are toasty warm - not waterproof though! I have no trouble with any buckles wearing these and, as Tapir says, they are great if you are using double reins.

Ariat or Roeckl for me. Grippy, warm and not bulky. I do like the sound of the glove liners recommended here, sounds like a great idea!

Bog standard magic pimple gloves!!!!

Working on a yard where gloves get trashed in minutes, I find these by far the warmest, most practical and certainly cheapest!

I think the thing with the ariats etc as opposed to standard fleece gloves also depends whether you are a standard hand size, I really struggle to get basic small/medium etc to fit so be able to purchase a 6.5 or a 7 is great and worth the extra. previous ariats did 2 years and then wore on the thumbs after squeezing silks under them, current ariats are half a size bigger and on year 2.
